    Good Day maniacs :D

My 2017 TRD Sport has 235,000KM on it. Im kind of obsessive about regular maintenance. Mileage is 97% highway speeds for 45 minutes daily up to 4+ hour runs one way. Would asking to have a can of Toyota's engine flush additive be beneficial to clean things out a bit better on my next oil change? I've been researching the topic, but it seems like it's a split opinion on good vs Meh for results.

What are you trying to flush from the engine?

If you have been changing the oil regularly there is no need for any kind of flush product.

All quality oils have a well designed additive package to keep the engine clean.

I guess just built up crud you see in some engines that gets accumulated over time. Kind of why I'm asking people that know better than me.

That's good. I know driving highway miles and the engine getting to operating temps all the time are quite beneficial vs short trips and the engine not getting a chance to properly warm up. I do run Royal Purple fuel system cleaner around every 25,000 km as well. My oil changes are done at the dealership so , except for maybe 3 , all my engine oil ,and basically all fluid changes, have been Toyota brand.

Sure there can be some exceptions but the overwhelming majority of the time you see an engine with built up crud it lived a life of long oil change intervals & low quality oils - just poor maintenance.

"Solvents" and "Flushes" get a lot of marketing money, they play on the uninformed consumers fear of the unknown: "...well, this mechanic (oil changer) says I need it..." and they are pure profit for the shop.

Think about it, they could just refill the bottle with any engine oil and "sell" the same bottle over & over.

If all the money folks spent on "mechanic in a can" products was just put toward regular service the vehicles would be far better off.

Just continue with good maintenance habits, run top tier fuel and the odd Italian tune-up.

Why would you see a crud buildup if you change the oil regularly? if the oil cannot flush the imaginary crud, do you think the flush will?

If you have changed your oil using good intervals in the 5000mi/6 months or close to for that amount of driving and used a good quality oil, there is nothing an engine flush will do to benefit you. I’d bet if you pulled your valve covers, you would find a clean valve train with minimal wear. Toyota motors do very well maintained like they should be with little need for anything beyond that.

It’s even better you’re hwy driving a lot. Long hwy driving gets the oil up to working temperature long enough to burn off moisture and blown by fuel so it can work they way it’s supposed to.

I put a bottle of Techron in the tank once or twice a year to keep those injectors and intake system clean. But that's it.

The crud doesn't form as long as you keep up with regular oil changes at ~8000 km.

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
Valvoline restore & protect full synthetic motor oil is a new product that cleans the internals slowly. It is about the same cost as other oils.
