Toyota extended warranty plan purchase

$2530 (ouch) on a 2023 new sr5 4wd v6 for
8 yr/ 125k toyota motor Corp platinum extended warranty. Based on 15K per year.
No discounts. Jan 2023 new england

 

Looking at purchasing my 21 Limited off lease in March, even though it is a Toyota (that I keep immaculate), alot of potential for issues.. reaching out for a quote.

 

I ended hearing from Jerry yesterday. Very nice guy. Extremely friendly and easy to work with.

Picked up the 10 yr / 125k, $0 deductible for $1795.

Yes, it starts at the end of the 3 yr/36k warranty. So it's $250 per year for the coverage. That's incredibly cheap peace of mind.

 

Maybe you're meaning the same thing, but the terms start from in-service date. The coverage starts after the 3yr 36kmi bumper to bumper, but it will end 7 years after that or when the odometer reads 125kmi.

With the cost of the VSA at around $1300, that makes no sense. $1300 hardly gets you anything anymore. Just my humble advice from a former Toyota tech.

 

Personally, I purchased an extended warranty plan for peace of mind. Sort like an insurance policy. hopefully I will never need it.

 

Really interesting. I assume you have to have all maintenance records completed with the maintenance schedule. What if you do your own maintenance, do you have to be able to prove that for the extended warranties? Or can you also update it, if you do your own maintenance, and log it in the Toyota website someway? Asking for my nephew, who just bought a new 2023 this weekend. I've never utilized an extended warranty on my 2017 Tacoma.

I will research also on the website to see if it has all of the requirements.

It makes sense to keep good records and make sure to adhere to the maintenance schedule while under warranty.
With that said, I've never had to show any records for extended warranties.
Seems that they would only ask if they believe you were negligent and caused the problem.

Yea, I think I pushed mine out to 10y/125k for 1600 bucks.

I had a stupid screen on my VW die this year. Replacement radio was 800 bucks, and needed dealer programming to loop into the car. Was stupid enough that I dismantled the thing to find a new touch layer on it on ebay. Look at any common system on the Tacoma and you will see little quirks that can add up. All those fuzzy noise instrument cluster screens going out? New clusters aren't cheap (plus labor on programming). Weird 4WD actuator? Leaking timing cover? Lots of annoying things that are far more than what the warranty costs if you shop around.

 

Yeah that’s smart for only a few $ more.

 

Anyone heard from Jerry lately? I’ve emailed and called last week with no response. Maybe he’s on vacation

 

I emailed a few days ago also. They still the cheapest vsa warranty?

 

I e-mailed and called and left voice mails for close to a month and then just called his cell. He answered and I had a warranty in 15 minutes. I don't know if there is a problem and I forgot to ask him. He is still selling as of 3 weeks ago.

 

This has probably been answered in the previous 12 pages, but I can buy an extended warranty through any Toyota dealer and use that warranty at any other Toyota dealer?

FYI I’m in NC and just bought a used 2021 Tacoma with 18k miles.

 

A toyota certified warranty, yes.

 

As long as it is within 36000 miles or 3 years.

 

Is there a link somewhere describing and comparing all the warranty types? I discussed extending warranty with my dealer but he never mentioned anything like a 'Platinum' or other types I see mentioned here. I see Toyota's website Service Plus and Service Care though...

From what I remember Toyota dealers only offer the platinum.
