Yes, definitely inspect the vehicle 100% before you accept it back. When I had my replacement, I had a gas leak, a clutch line leak, and they kept my front tow hook and helper springs. When I asked for my helper springs back, they cut the hangers and lost all the hardware... They fixed the leaks and allowed me to remove my tow hook from the frame, but there was nothing I could do about the helper springs.

I called my local dealer in Ontario (St. Catharines) yesterday to schedule an inspection and was told they are still waiting for the details to arrive from Toyota. They took my info down to schedule an inspection once they are ready to start.

Are they not doing buy backs anymore? They voluntarily bought back my 2000 Taco for 150% of blue book.

Thanks for the feed back, I'm in Toronto onatario and yet to call the dealership. I'll keep you updated on what happens. I'm going to shoot for the 150% buy back.

Are the 2wd frames included in this recall? I live in St. Johns NL and I seen locals posting this letter they got, but I never received one.

This may not be the same situation, but my 1999 frame did not rust out in time for that recall. Instead the dealer sprayed their CRC crap all over the frame, and all over the existing rust, it did nothing really to extent the life of my truck. In addition they did NOT spray it on the inside, that is where the corrosion is the worst!!

    Good Luck,

I think it says if it gets the CRC and still fails within 2 years a frame replacement is covered.

Calgarian here, my truck is at the dealership getting a frame replacement right now because the original frame spray they did 2 years ago is flaking right off and revealing bad rust underneath.

If you had it sprayed previously get it rechecked.

Man, it was only a few months ago I was freaking out cause in Canada the original settlement was for 05-08 Tacoma's, thank god they bumped it up to 10'. Trying to scam us

Scrape and rust proof was what I was told....setting up appointment, it's a three day job. Free rental. What should I ask or look for before I accept it back?

It is easy to do the "simple" straight sections of the frame. But the parts that corrode are the complex parts, where things attach. Where the body mounts, shock mounts, spring mounts, etc, attach to the frame. Also under the brake and fuel lines that run along the frame. They will not take the time to do those areas properly. Then they will spray the stuff on there, making it look good. They just want to get your truck past the warranty period without replacing the frame. Not sure what to tell you what to do about it, but it is what I have seen happen.

    Good Luck

If I may ask, when did Toyota buy back your 2000 Taco? I've got a 2002 with a failed frame stranding me in Texas at the moment and one of the big Toyota dealerships seems willing to have a conversation with me.

Anyone in the Saint John, NB area made an appointment for a frame inspection yet?

I have a 2009 that I bought used a couple years ago. Anytime I took it for an oil change, the tech would suggest I get it undercoated. It's rusty under there, but I don't know how much is too much. The pickup started it's life in Nova Scotia. I was able to book an appointment to have it inspected at Vandermeer Toyota in Cobourg (where I bought the truck), but had to cancel due to a problem with my spare car. After thinking about it, I wonder if I would be better off waiting until close to the expiration of the recall. I want the rust to run its course, then maybe improve my chances of getting a new frame or a buyout. PS, I love my Taco, but I think I'd like to upsize to a Tundra.
