Finding the holes on your own is your best option. Then go to another dealership.

 

That's exactly what I did. Buy a pneumatic needle descaler at Harbor Freight and go over you frame. You'll be surprised what you'll uncover and will clean up the frame if it passes the inspection and you want to go with the CRC coating. Concentrate on the known problem areas like the passenger side in the area of the catalytic converter. When I did the above I found two holes in my 2009 and it failed inspection. I now have a new frame and am happy with the job done.

 

Ok so if I have read and understand everything correctly... if I were to buy a Tacoma the frame warranty is no long good correct? Recently found someone wanting to dumb the truck cheap due to frame issues.

I agree with roadking1, the most important thing you need to find out is the Tacoma's "in-service date" or Date of First Use (DOFU). You have the latter of 12 years from DOFU or January 31, 2019.

 

How do I find out this info

 

Either go to the Toyota owners website and enter your VIN, call Toyota customer service or a dealership with your VIN to get your "in-service date" and to get the repair history.

 

Make sure it does not have a salvage title either. If it does, no frame for you.

 

Damn dude, no one wants that to happen to a fellow taco man. I'd lawyer up. I was prepared to call a lawyer and had to keep after my dealer. I finally received the call that I got approved and a huge sigh of relief. I was ready to go ballz to the legal wall. Awaiting a rental truck bc of course they don't have any Tacoma's to lend out. Now on to the long drawn out process of tear down and rebuild. Let the bills roll in!

 

I have a 2006 Toyota tacoma dc longbedwith 80,000mi that has frame rust all over the under side of the truck, is toyota still following through with the frame swap? I have read around and seen it covers the 06 but am worried I may have missed the deadline to get the job done from toyota. I have scheduled a frame inspection at a local toyota dealer but does anyone have tips on how to claim the repair or mention the settlement?

 

I complained about mine and the dealer installed my Dakar’s no charge .

 

So mine is getting inspected tomorrow as the engine is now sitting lopsided due to a crack in the frame and the fan engine fan is scraping as a result. but I live in WA is the new frame only applicable to the cold weather states or is it available to any US Tacoma.
Also Is the rental vehicle supposed to come at no charge or do I have to pay for it. Dealership has actually so far been helpful when they weren’t sure about it they urged me to call corporate and make sure that the warranty is still good because for some reason they thought I had an 05. If it is applicable in this state I have no doubt that it will pass crack is atrocious and my fan sounds like a ww2 fighter plane from scraping on the radiator housing the fan getting ground down in the process.

 

When I put the original wheeler's springs back on over the weekend, I noticed all the bolts were installed dry. Your's are probably dry too. That is why I do my own work.

 

This is the key question for me. Owning a 2010 that was just sprayed by Toyota, date of first use would be 2022 - correct?

The service guy at my local dealer gave me the 1/31/19 date which worried me a bit.

 

Are they required to supply a rental?

 

Dealer said I have no qualifying rust even though there is a ton not to mention the massive crack causing my fan to scrape what should I do

They are. However I had to wait for Toyota approval even though it wouldn't pass inspection. Toyota approved my frame yesterday and I'm now cruising around in a 2018 Tacoma Sport. Day 1 and I miss my 09 TRD OR baddddly. Way to many gidgets and gadgets in the new one. Doesn't feel much like a truck. Just a huge sigh of relief it was approved. I also told the service guy I would throw dead deer in the corolla if that's what they gave me. Was going to send me to enterprise for a truck but they 'found' one.

 

So you did had to wait to get approved, how long?

Its rifle season here, yeah if you fold down the back seat a buck would fit but no way a corolla would even begin to make it to camp....and where would I put the quad??
