I just talked to Toyota about the letter I just got in the mail that extended the warranty enhancement from the latter of 12 years from the "in-service date" to January 31, 2019. This means that everyone is covered until January 31, 2019, regardless if they're over the 12 years "in-service date". Toyota also said you can bring it in the have it inspected anytime, with there being no cutoff on the number of times.

    Good news for taco oweners!!
Toyota’s freakin rock I just got my frame. The dealer Handy Toyota was awesome, super easy and the tech did an awesome job.
Even cutting me a hell of deal to do the driver axle needle bearing after the fact.
Every taco deserves a easy frame swap!!

Well stated, I told the customer service rep. from Toyota that they are at least stepping up doing this and extending the deadline until January 31, 2019, will hopefully get the people who bought used and missed the notices until now.

You basically have a new Tacoma, with the motors being virtual bulletproof...I'd say you got your moneys worth from Toyota.

Yes, I totally agree. Got a new frame, etc. a couple months ago in my 2007 Tacoma with only 86K miles on it, and I feel like I've got a new truck, and I'm good to go for probably as long as I'll be able to drive (I'm getting old and broken).

I strongly encourage anyone with a rusty taco to get it inspected. This is a great opportunity, now that they've run it out a bit longer. This is probably the last chance for you 2005-6 folks - go for it! I missed my first chance on the original Toyota recall, because with my crappy eyesight I mis-read March 31 as May 31 (back in 2016). Then the class action thing came, and I jumped on it. Don't miss out! It really is a game changer for your vehicle...

I agreed 100% but I’d had been screwed if it weren’t for the suit!
    Kudos to the mom!!l

Toyota is stuck with the frame issue now I believe.
Gm does nothing and continues to do nothing.

So if my letter from Toyota says 1/31/19, it has been extended to 2020? Every 2nd generation truck?

Not sure, mines an 06 if that helps if yours is the same year and newer then I guess yours should be extended as well.

Thank you! The truck was purchased Nov. 2015. Maybe that has something to do with it. I'll call Toyota Monday.

The 1/31/19 wouldn't be the latter for you, the latter for you would be 12 years from your "in-service date" or "date of first use" (DOFU). Example: If your "in-service date" or (DOFU) was 9/31/10, you would have until 9/31/22 to have it inspected.

Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum. I’m getting my frame replaced and along with that I wanted to do a few other things. But the pricing for what they want to charge me seems too high...can you all give me your $0.02?

Bredemann Toyota in Park Ridge IL is doing the work.

    - Power steering rack and pressure line $1805 plus tax
    - Upper control arms $870 plus tax
    - I’m supplying my own front and rear shocks and front springs (purchased new from a 2018 Tacoma Offroad) but the rep said they woul charge me $220 to install wtf?
    - Outer tie-rods $115.00 plus tax
    - Thermostat $224
    - Water pump $435
    - Fuel Straps $156
    - Upper & lower radiator hoses $553
    - Front sway bar links $330
    - Engine & Trans mounts $370
    - Intermediate shaft $280 (Can the steering shaft seal also be checked?)
    - Body bushings & mounts $580
    - Fan clutch & pulley $890

Here’s some pics of my truck

AtlasDimensions, you can look it up yourself, there are lots of OEM parts sellers around that sell at a discount. I've used Dallas Toyota a few times, they don't always have it on hand, but the pricing is pretty reliable.

I'll get you started, here's the power steering page - https://parts.toyotaofdallas.com/v-2007-toyota-tacoma--base--4-0l-v6-gas/steering--p-s-pump-and-hoses

I'm not going to trash talk your dealer, but the short version is that you can do much better on pricing. You might also want to get them to comment on what needs to be done now, should be done soon, nice to do....

.....But the price on the rad hoses is freaking insane. And that's saying something, I'm used to Canadian pricing (typically about 2x US retail in CAD).

Yeah! I picked up on the rad hoses quick...i mean they are $25 the most each of them. But i’m giving this rep the benefit of the doubt and kind of waiting to see what he’ll say next...

Thanks for the tip on Toyota of Dallas Speedyj

Umm, new energy suspension sway bar links are less than $20/pair
    https://www.autopartswarehouse.com/brakes-suspension-and-steering/sway-bars-and-components/sway-bar-link?Ntt=Energy Susp Sway Bar Link

I took my '07 in for a frame evaluation yesterday - the service writer said they found a crack near the right front wheel and would submit paperwork to Toyota for a frame replacement. Gave me back my keys and sent me on my way, so in New York it's okay to drive with a cracked frame until it fails state inspection.
The dealer called back less than two hours later to tell me they got approval for the replacement and the parts would be in within about 4 to 12 weeks, possibly longer... they did note they had never received approval so quickly.
