In Canada you had until last December 31st to have your frame inspected. The class action suit is only currently in the USA as far as I know. Not sure how a Canadian truck would work currently in the USA.

Best bet would be to contact a knowledgeable dealer, and if the first one is of no help, call another

    Does a frame replacement count?
Because I purchased my taco this year (used) I am ineligible for any frame work/oiling, correct?

I called today and the dealership said they wouldn't look into the frame warranty issue since the truck was 1st sold in Canada.

I followed up with a call to corporate. Corporate was helpful. They informed me of the leaf spring recall that I knew about and said the frame warranty issue will not show on the website with the VIN since it's not a recall.

Corporate also said that a US dealership is not required to do a frame inspection on a truck from Canada even though the lady has never heard of a dealership denying such. She asked for the name of the dealership and the name of the person I spoke with.

Also, the dealership that turned me away is required to swap my leaf springs, so that should be fun.

any good dealer would take pictures of your frame and submit them with your paper work and wait for approval from Toyota. Ultimately Toyota approves or denies the frame replacement, and if it's approved the dealers make a good chunk of change off the process

The settlement agreement stated that owner of vehicles purchased after 12/2/2016 were not class members, therefore not eligible for remedies provided in the settlement.

However Toyota's warranty enhancement program ZH6 click here (this is the frame inspection/replacement component) makes no mention of this, and there have been reports of trucks purchased after 12/2/2016 being accepted under the program...

The warranty is transferable and goes with the truck.

It must have been foreshadowing....but with my old 2005, every Fall I unloaded 3+ cans of black spray paint on the under carriage.... got the recall notice and laughed.... when i sold it the frame still looked brand new..... doing the same on my 2015

However this "warranty enhancement" is the remedy brought about via a class action suit. Class action lawsuits have class members (humans) that are eligible o receive benefits derived by a settlement; and as worded those who purchased a 2005 to 2010 Tacoma after 12/2/2016 were not class members. Therefore in this matter the remedy "follows" the class members (owners).

That said, and as stated above, Toyota does not at this time seem to be enforcing this restriction. I believe one or more of the yet to be adjudicated appeals were contesting this class restriction so perhaps Toyota just said "screw it"...

Got my warranty “enhancement” sticker a few days ago. Threw it in my glove box.

I feel so enhanced and protected....

Well, no wonder it's not working for you. You did it wrong. You were supposed to peel it off and stick it into your warranty book. I mean, how else do you expect it to work? Magically by *just* being in the glove box? No no no no, you've got to energize it by peeling it off. Doesn't work unless you do this. I know. If you put it in crooked it won't work, either. Use a T-Square. The bigger, the better.

Damn, I’m just seeing this. I panicked earlier, ran to the truck, grabbed the sticker and violently slapped it directly to the frame. Backed away, screaming “What naw, biotch!”.

Will Toyota send me another sticker?

I hope so, because it's supposed to IN THE WARRANTY BOOK. I'm not sure any other option will help. The warranty book is clearly more important than any of us realized. It's probably just the part of a vast, multi-dimensional cross-temporal being as it protrudes into our particular reality.

But, since this being is cross-temporal, it probably doesn't matter *when* you comply. You can wait for another sticker to arrive. Probably.

Printed/bound within the core of a dying star and suspended inside the temporal nexus for eons until found by Toyota.

Update on my truck, the dealer said the parts are on order. They are estimating that it will be 6 weeks or so for the parts to arrive. They said installing customer replacement parts is not a problem (e.g. Bilstein shocks, UCA etc) as long as its a bolt on part (just need to sign a waiver releasing them from warrantying the parts). I will be in the loaner car (2017 Camry) for quite awhile.

The service tech said that they can inspect and replace using the WEP bypassing the ownership from the lawsuit.

I’m taking it in for a frame inspection on Friday.

That makes them sound like great guys, however the WEP is the implementation of the class action suit settlement agreement--it was Toyota not the dealer who chose to not enforce the purchase date ownership restriction...

Yeah, I hope they are good guys. Ideally they my frame needs replacing and carry it out with minimal headache.
