I wonder if that CRC coating dries down a bit to a more clear colour? It looks pretty awful to see what appears to look like white caulking all over the underside of our trucks.

All of my welds were rusting when I brought my truck in for the recall. They are undercoating it today, but I can't pick it up until Saturday. Once I get it back I'll take some nice pictures and pose them on here.

    Hey Jim
There's few interesting finds here, Toyota had these class action & hence action only for 2005-2010 models, looks like they are going extra mile to cover themselves from another costly affair. Also i have a 07 Tundra which also qualified for same & was taken in, but they sprayed a complete black tar like material on complete frame, now it's bone dry, with a putty knife you can peel it (but mostly intact). Wonder if toyota changed the product or this particular dealership is using his own formula.

Toyota of Pharr didn't want to do absolutely anything about my frame so I called Toyota and they sent me with the 3rd party in charge of the frame settlement who refuses to answer my calls and emails so I guess I'll have to get under there and do it myself

Truck has been in Texas all of its life so the rust is kinda sketchy

The people at the dealer you took it to are a bunch of dumb asses. In order for your frame to be covered for 12 years from date of 1st use, you must get it CRC treated within 2 years of December 2019. If you don’t get get it CRC treated, no free frame for you if/when it rusts out.

Well, it only has 33K on it, and I use a drive through / no touch car wash that has an aggressive under chassis wash. When I got down to see what they did and took the pics, I was surprised to see how clean it was. Will continue to use that car wash system.

Yeah I agree. Crazy Toyota is only sending letters to certain owners. You would think that there are qualifications to what truck is eligible for the inspection but instead it seems like just luck of the draw lol

You have no idea how lucky you are. I wish my (Ziebart undercoated) 2014 Tacoma frame looked half that good. Got my letter last month and will be getting it inspected this spring.

So i've looked through this thread. My company has a nice white Tacoma sport 2010-2011 double cab long bed that was bought either new or CPO and the dept. manager who has been driving it for 180k+ miles is thinking of getting rid of it soon because he is retiring. Truck has been highway driven in northern CT/NY and I want it, however after taking a peek under I was a little apprehensive as my 2000 Taco looks "new" compared to this. I understand Toyota needs to send you the letter for inspection and CRC application. When i was looking under it there did appear to be some kind of treatment done to the frame but years ago, and some areas looked very rusty beyond surface rust..might take a better look tomorrow.

Pending me getting the vin # and calling toyota. Do you think if i purchased this as the third owner it could pose a problem? Or no as long as it has been listed and registered in a cold weather state. Also pending a purchase, could bring to Toyota for inspection and see what they can dig up before buying this.

I absolutely love the Gen 2 model, and 4dr would make traveling, skiing and long trips so much easier over my current set up. Thanks.

You really need to find out if it's a 2010 or a 2011. The court ordered WEP is '05-'10 and the (whatever they call it) is '11-'17.

Either way, it's covered for a frame swap if it has a 10mm rust hole.

I'd definitely check the VIN through Toyota. They don't have to send a letter for the vehicle to be eligible per se.

Looks like they added a metal bracket to “close” off the front c channel with this new campaign. Not sure if I like this. How are we supposed to rinse and clean out the c channel if there no access to it. I doubt it’s totally watertight so it’s going to continue to be vulnerable to salt spray.

Weird, mine has expanded to just over 10mm and they passed my frame and ordered to coating. I don't know really care that much since I've got 3 1/2 more years of coverage and expect the rust to keep going. Just get the frame replaced later when the trucks got more miles, I guess. Maybe be able to keep it on the road longer that way.

You don’t need a letter to have it inspected, all the dealers have a little message that pops up about this, IT IS NOT A RECALL!!!!!

it is a WARRANTY EXTENSION on the frame.

if was a recall, ALL trucks would be getting frames
