Maybe I'll shoot them an email with a picture. Couldn't hurt.

Edited to add: Since I had a case file open with Toyota anyway about this from where I'd been calling and confirming since I never got a letter, I just emailed the woman I was dealing with some pics of the rusting drain hole. We'll see what she says. Thanks for the nudge, guys.

Edit #2: I sent an email with a pic and was told to call Toyota Corp. I did and got assigned a new case number and the woman I spoke with is going to contact the dealership directly. Let's see what happens!

This is the thing dealers love to be honest. Easy money for them. I had a Dealer Manager approach me in a parking lot the other day asking if I had my recall done. I had already. He said they're doing about 20 a day and he was hoping to get me in.

    Easy money.

    Just got my letter

The last time I got a notice like this was ‘08 and Toyota bought my 10 year old high mileage clapped out beat to shit truck for a little over 15 grand plus 1000$ incentive on a new one

They literally bought my brand loyalty :)

That said, why won’t they just fix the problem:annoyed:

Any 2010’s getting replaced yet? I’m going in tomorrow for a trans flush. Had the coating applied two years ago, but there is a ton of surface rust under there now.

Not yet but I won't let them do my second inspection till I'm almost at the 12 years..give me the best shot at failure

You can have your frame inspected more than once, just don’t try doing it monthly. So get it inspected and coated within two years of notice or whatever the rules are now and then again right before you hit the twelve year mark. And good luck, Toyota isn’t doing this out of generosity it’s the result of a lawsuit. They can and will tell you to piss off if they can get out of replacing your frame. I have multiple qualifying holes and my frame will not be replaced and my trucks manufacture date is Feb 08.

Yup I got my first inspection and coating a year ago. Have to get the second before 12 years is up, Sept 2021. I'm in a cold weather area so I'm thinking I'll get it in August 2021 as I'm more likely to have it fail, plus my wife had a 96 bought back a while ago

The dealer that did my trans flush inspects the frame on all covered tacos every time they come in. There isn’t a limit on inspections.

This exactly, in factory warranties I trust. It's easy money for dealers, they will jump to take the job. This is majority of the reason I bought a dieselgate tdi, doubled down with a CPO as well, I have a 150k factory bumper to bumper warranty all covered through VW one way or another. Don't have to worry about that car basically ever.

Haven't had a chance to get my taco inspected yet, basically waiting on needing an oil change (I have only had the truck a few weeks). The TSB for my cats was never done, so I already have that on the books to be inspected when I roll in for an oil change.

Not sure if I still have the paperwork, and either way I don't really use the dealer for work so not like they're gonna see it often. I do recall the 12 year limit on the reframe so if nothing else I'll be sure to get that one done

I just got my letter. I was under the assumption you have to wait for another letter, as far as the coating. But maybe when the truck needs inspected I'll just take it in and have them look at it. I appreciate Toyota extending this coverage but at the same time, how is it still a problem? My letter said 11-17s. I was shocked that it is extended into the 3rd gen already.

Yes. I’m surprised it’s going on for so long. Just fix the damn issue already. Definitely makes me be concerned about my ‘18.

So I got a letter a few months ago to have it inspected. I took it in, they inspected it and said it passed and sent me on my way. Today I got another letter that says it's a limited service campaign (remedy notice).
It says "If the frame meets specific inspection criteria, CRC will be applied to the frame FREE OF CHARGE to you."
I called to set up an appointment, but they said my frame passed inspection last time and the CRC didn't need to be applied.
Is that right? I assumed that if the frame didnt need to be replaced, they'd put the CRC stuff on regardless.

a few people posted screenshots of Toyotas written requirements and what they do. You just have to look for it, but it’s here somewhere.

That’s not my understanding of the program. Remedy is CRC or replacement. Either way a 14 should have plenty of time. Also keep in mind this is the result of a lawsuit, not necessarily goodwill.

I know i’m late to this thread but I had my frame replaced and I don’t know if they replaced all the parts they were supposed to. Looks like some had their UCA and alignment cams replaced. Mine weren’t replaced. Is there a list of parts that were required to be replaced along with the frame?

When my 05 had the frame replaced they replaced the frame, brake lines, lower control arms and rear leaf springs. That was what was part of the recall. I also had them do new front brakes cause my caliper was siezed, and new shocks all around since they had it disassembled anyway.

So who did you contact? My local dealership is going dark and not responding. I had the CRC applied 2 years ago, stuff is falling off in rusty chunks on my garage floor now. Pretty sure my frame is done....

I dealt with toyota corporate who worked with the local dealer. I got the frame treatment and we’re keeping an eye on things. I half expect a replacement at some point. I don’t know what year your truck is, but we all better stay on top of this campaign.
