Just dropped my frame off for an inspection. The service writer I spoke with was off for the day, go figure. The other service writer was a little rude

Anyways I should know the details about my frame in the afternoon!

They said my frame is in “good” shape. My channels have the layers but I guess they must not have found any holes?

You might want to try to find some holes on your own and take it back before it's too late. Maybe a different dealership or call corporate if you find some and the dealership won't help. I never thought my frame was too bad until I went out and "inspected " it with a hammer.

Thanks. Hopefully yours will get approved too!

Dunno, new frame + body in good condition, I just might keep this thing around forever with engine rebuilds/swaps. haha

I’m taking my 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 in this wed. To get the frame replaced since it failed about a 6 wks ago. I had taking her in for the leaf bracket replacement and they did the inspection
She has 157,000 miles on her.
Excited. She’ll be like a new truck. As long as they don’t miss it up. LoL

When is the deadline for frame inspections?

I have rust and the bottom of the channels have the "layering" near the rear of the truck but the inspection did not find any holes.

If you have an 05 your deadline is may of 18, you may need to find the holes on your own. Take a flashlight, screwdriver, or hammer, you may be surprised on what you find.

If the layers are separating creating a 10mm gap it should fail.

I will have to get under there and do some measuring! Thanks!

I will take it to a different dealer back home once this semester ends.

Wanted to bring this thread back to the top. Thanks to all the members that posted the WEP information!

Just bought my Tacoma right before Thanksgiving. I used all the info I got from this thread when I brought my 2007 DCLB in for inspection of the rear leaf springs and frame rust. PA/NJ taco for its entire life, 98k miles. It did not pass inspection and I was told that they will be replacing the leaf springs and frame in a month when all the parts come in, but my car was safe to drive for the time being.

For those in the NJ area, the Princeton Toyota dealership has been really great. Shannon is the head of the team taking care of this issue for our trucks.

Hope this helps some others as well!

Just joined this site as I'm reading through this posting. 2007 Tacoma 4x4 . Found out about the recalls and scheduled an appointment. Truck failed frame inspection and hopefully I will get a new frame. I'm currently in a loaner vehicle and was told it could take a couple months. My last 97 Tacoma I had for close to 19 yrs and the frame failed in 2011 but it was a salvage title so I got screwed. I'm hoping for the best on this.

If they failed your frame and gave you a loaner why are you questioning if you will get a frame?

They did this with my 97 and called back the next day to bring the loaner back and get my truck that was said to be unsafe to drive? My 97 had a salvage title so they said Toyota refuses to do anything about it.

These pictures of my frame rail next to the muffler were taken 3 years ago before I was scheduled to have the CRC applied after the LSC inspection passed. I never mentioned it to the dealership when they inspected the frame and was thinking that when they inspect it again before the 12 years expires, I will ask them to look at it. It must be more than 10mm by now, I thought it had to be a 10mm hole and didn't think it would qualify for the internal layers bulging out would fail it like it did yours @roadking1 . I dought they even checked that area, being almost hidden by the muffler and don't think it's an area they test with a hammer either.

The frame rails on mine were in the area high lighted by Toyota as structurally unsafe. Not hidden by the muffler or anything else.

Does that mean this area wouldn't qualify because it's not in an area high lighted by Toyota as structurally unsafe?

I think that it is still bad enough to fail. When do you take it in for the inspection?
