People have asked that same question and bottom line if you own a 2005-2010 Tacoma you have 12 years from in-service date, so when you bought it doesn't matter.

@cliffyk can explain it better than I can.

Your reading of the settlement agreement is correct, per same owners of vehicles purchased after 12/2/2016 are not class members--however the Toyota initiated warranty enhancement program (WEP-ZH6)--launched prior to any decision re: the appeals to the final order--makes no mention of such a restriction.

Where do you live, is your frame bad? If it is I'd go for it--bring a copy of my letter (linked above) with you...

Also just to satisfy my curiosity, why did you buy a Tacoma with a rusted out frame?

cliffyk, I think mikemarcin's first post explains why, but I find it hard to believe the seller didn't know.

Update. I found out yesterday that in fact I will be getting a new frame!!! So happy with that news. The dealership said it should be roughly a month until the frame and additional parts arrived. I will keep updating with pics and info. Thanks again for the help.

I purchased my 2007 in late Nov. Logged into Toyota owners site to see the history of the truck and the recalls came up. Called my local "hour away" dealer and brought it in a week later and it failed the frame inspection. Getting a new frame and putting newish shocks on it while their doing the swap. Driving a 2017 Tacoma while they get this done. Nice truck, especially the tech, but I don't like the 3.5 at all.

The way your frame looks, I hope they are giving you a free rental till the frame is replaced.

No I’m still driving it. They said if it was in worse shape they would have. I made sure to ask again if it was safe to drive and they assured me that it was.

You may want to get that in writing, if they have to sign off on that they may change their tune and if you did have an accident, they would be responsible.

My dealer (and all others step around me) put people in rentals, no questions asked. Not worth it if even one Tacoma causes and accident because of a rotten frame. I had nice new trucks for about 5 months

The funny thing here is that if it were a 2016 with a barely visible light mist of gear oil on the rear differential they would impound it...

I'm wondering if I should be expecting any charges for this frame replacement? I would think not as it is Toyota's mistake and THEY are fixing it.

Depends. All my charges were for items I elected to have replaced above and beyond what was getting done for free

I believe the service "guy" misread/confused the WEP-ZH6 (Warrany Enhancement Program for frame replacement) and LSC-H0F (Limited Service Campaign for CRC application) expiration dates.

Page 1 of the customer notification letter:

The frame replacement warranty enhancement program expires the latter of 12-years after original date of first use or 1-year after the date of final order (May 21, 2017); i.e. May 21, 2018.

The CRC application limited service campaign expires 2-years after the final order date; i.e. May 21, 2019.

In your case it does not matter as they will be inspecting it before May 21 of this year, however other's with '05 and '06 MY trucks need to be aware that the frame replacement warranty enhancement program expires this May 21st...

I bought my truck brand new in ‘07 and its lived here in Colorado all its life. I took it in for the frame inspection today and it failed. She just turned 200k miles. Seems like a perfect time to get a new frame.

To be honest, I’m not sure. The service advisor said “near the front. Right below where the cabin is bolted.”
I think it is directly below the footwell area because you can see some brake or fuel lines right above the frame, the lines bend upwards, likely going to the master cylinder.
I have not seen the truck or frame in person since I dropped it off at the dealership <— 5 weeks ago now.

I asked the service advisor that I would very much like to see the truck and take pictures of everything. He said he would let me know when they are getting ready to put it up on a lift again to do the frame. That conversation was about 4 weeks ago.

UPDATE: I dropped the truck off on 1/3/2018 and it is currently 2/8/18.
There has been zero progress on my truck other than the “hammer on frame” inspection. It has been parked, unmoved at the dealership for over a month now. I have kept in regular contact with the service advisor and he says the frame has still not come in.
As of right now, I don’t blame the dealer. My girlfriend dropped off her 2012 Camry for the torque converter replacement recall, and they had it done within 8 hours of drop off. I think the frames are just on backorder with the manufacturer.

I still have the rental car after 5 weeks.
I had a Corolla for 3weeks/2500 miles. I got greedy and asked to trade it in for a Camry due to me feeling the Corolla was too ‘tin can-like’ and took 30mins to out heat but I got a particularly sassy associate at the rental department who said I’m only allowed a base model (corolla) or the equivalent to the vehicle being worked on (Tacoma). I didn’t feel like fighting it despite last time I was told that I could have any vehicle they offered (“Highlander, Sequoia, Camry, Corolla, Tacoma, what would you like sir?”). I was told this by her coworker while she was sitting 2 ft away. Can’t really blame her for following the rules...I guess.

So I’ve had a 2017 crew cab short bed SR5 4x4 Tacoma in ‘blazing blue pearl’ for the last week.
    What a pig.
    15mpg is optimistic.
I’m very disappointed how cheap the truck feels.
V6 has got the power, but transmission is a slushbox.
The truck is extremely gimmicky overall and it’s clear that Toyota has made the Tacoma into just an ‘image or fantasy of a truck’ but it’s a fancy Camry underneath. It’s abundantly clear, this truck is not for work.
