I feel your pain. I dropped mine off on 1/9 and still no word. Been in a rental Nissan Frontier since. Not that big of a jump from a corolla. Initially I was told 2-3 months to get parts.

Mine failed on 12/13/17 and I was told at least couple more months from now. I am still driving my truck until they change the frame.

Thanks for the pictures. I dropped my 2010 AC off at local dealer today for a 90k service, and the frame inspection, (and whatever they do for the propeller shaft U-Joint extension). I was told if my truck passes the frame inspection they'll spray it, and keep it inside over night to let the stuff set. So, I have a 2017 Highlander loaner. Based on my own amateur inspection while doing my last oil change, I expect to not need the frame replaced, and hope I am not sorry about the spray job.

The prop shaft warranty extension, they will inspect it, and if a u-joint is broken, they'll replace the shaft, otherwise, the u-joints will just be replaced, which I am getting done as well (just the joints, shaft is fine) As far as the frame inspection, it's got to have a hole obviously, and depending on the area, 10mm or 16mm in size I believe, which mine had in the passenger side rail area. I had a Camry loaner, so you made out better than me, which is not good in the snow at all fwiw. Also, that frame of mine in the pics was sprayed in 2014 or 2015, done by the guy who owned it before me, and I don't know how much that helped, but maybe bought them some time? Anyways good luck :)

Are you satisfied with your truck? I called my dealer today and it could be one to three months before they can even look at it.

New member here. Just had my frame on my 2009 DC SR5 inspected today. They were banging on the pass frame rail where it was very thin. Sounded like they wanted to replace it but need to send pics to big wigs in order to do so. So they set me up an appointment to get the spray in early April. He basically said by then it will fail the inspection.

You have 12 years from the in-service date, so make sure it gets reinspected before then and welcome to TW, too bad you are posting here under these circumstances.

Mine passed all inspections: PA safety, PA emission, Frame, and propeller shaft U-Joints.
Got sprayed, when I expressed concern over the spray the Service Adviser told me if I refuse the spray, my frame warranty is voided. He also told me my frame and whole truck is solid and in excellent shape. Probably to make me feel better about the costs associated with the 90k service.

They hold it for 24-36 hours so the spray sets, more or less. Told me to avoid car wash, especially undercarriage spray for a couple weeks, and suggested I might want to avoid working under the vehicle for a couple months. What are they spraying under there?

I'm seriously thinking about packing some rock salt around that thin spot maybe even some vinegar and peroxide

Externally = Noxudol 300s is a rust preventive product free from solvents. Low viscosity binding agents and additives have been mixed with enable application at a low temperature. After application, the material forms a soft film hardening to a waxy anti-corrosive protection.

    Internally = nox-rust 712am

My brother said someone he works with drove his Tacoma in the ocean in the hopes to accelerate the frame corrosion.

When they first sent us the letter about the LSC, I debated waiting till the last second to get my frame sprayed in the hopes of finding a 10mm hole, but my luck I wouldn't take care of the frame and 1 day after the 12 years is over mine would fail state inspection. I have owned my truck from day one and know how well it was cared for, so I decided to be proactive and get the CRC sooner rather than later, also when I had mine sprayed it was warm/dry so it cured faster.

I just want a new frame..I don't want 5 years from now it start looking like it's gonna fall apart. They should replace it even if it's just really thin in a spot or two. I love my truck and plan on keeping it for another 20 years. I don't think a 10 mm hole is worse than really thin. Both should qualify as needed replaced

It boggles my mind after years and years of buybacks and replacements the 2nd generation has the same problem as past years. I feel at a minimum Toyota should offer us what owners in Canada and 2001-04, which is 15 years from in-service date.

I would be happy to get 18 years like I got with my 1988 Nissan King cab 4x4 and I did half the work cleaning that frame as I have done with my Tacoma.

Just dropped my truck off today for the recall and got a call back 2 hours later saying I would be waiting 90 days or so for them to replace the frame. Should be able to pick up a loaner in the morning. Has anyone experienced buying a new vehicle through this process? Just thoughts on possibly buying a new tacoma.

Wonder why some dealers take so long and others can get the parts quickly and git er done in a timely manner?

So looked under my truck today where they were beating it with the hammer and power chisel. There's a super dent that bulges out the other side of the rail. Definitely getting replaced if it's damaged from them beating on it right?
