So all of the 05, 06, 07 and 08's are all finished now?

There are some 08s that are still covered. I suppose there might be a very small handful of 07s still covered. It’s 12 years from date of 1st use. (The date it was originally sold new, off the lot.) If a ‘07 was somehow still sitting on the dealers lot after this date in 2008, it would be covered.

I just received word that frame will be shipped to the dealer in a couple of weeks! Just my luck... I live in the states, my truck is Canadian and the border is closed!

There is so much info on this subject it makes it hard to find simple information like what is included. Anything else besides the lower control arms, brakes and fuel lines? Any fluids? Shocks? My leaf springs have already been done, so I assume not those?

Wow. I just went back in your posts and saw that your frame inspection was May 2019. That post was my inspiration to get my frame inspected in Canada. My inspection was July 4, 2019. They keep telling my “another 4 months”. Last word was “maybe August”. Since your frame is finally going to be on it’s way, that gives me new hope that mine will eventually happen. However, like you, I am curious when I’ll be able to drive my truck across the border.

    Thanks for the update.

I received the notice in the mail back in December for my 2013 to be inspected. My dealer called me in February and made an appointment. My frame actually looks pretty good so likely i will be getting the protection coverage.

I'll toss in my experience with this issue. I had my leafs replaced and frame inspection done May 2019, my frame qualified for replacement thankfully. Unfortunately the dealer did not want to follow through with the work due to the fact my truck has been slightly modified (I even had to remove my lift blocks so they would replace the leafs). This was Kamloops Toyota in BC, terrible shop to deal with. They will not disturb any modified parts on a vehicle (straight from the service managers mouth). It was an ordeal just to get my leafs changed. They politely declined to replace my frame.

Kelowna has been great to deal with, highly recommend. As per the campaign, this should come at no cost to the customer. Do not let them charge you for fluids or "shop supplies." My frame was ordered June 2019, and as of a few months ago, I was told "maybe end of 2020, but probably 2021." I received a call last week that my frame has arrived and for some reason it was bumped ahead of 12 other people, go figure. So there doesn't seem to be any logic to the order the frames are placed in. Ill update once the work is done at the end of the month.

    Update to my above post.

The frame was replaced last week in 4 days, some of the included services and parts were:

    New LCAs
    Brake hard lines
Lots of new hardware associated with removal of cab and box
    Spare tire carrier
    Skid control sensor wiring
    Cab mount cushions
    Alignment
    Brake fluid change
    AC recharge
    Front diff oil change
Coolant change - had them install my supplied water pump (OEM Aisin, half price from NAPA vs the dealer) we agreed on 1hr labor charge for that. (Engine comes out)
They also installed my new supplied rear shocks free of charge

    I am in Edmonton
Today, at the dealership, my frame inspection showed enough to apply to Toyota Canada for a frame replacement.
    09 with only 55000 Kms.
I didn’t think it was that bad, but they think it should be done.
I am wondering if the dealership is just looking for work and because they are slow due to COVID, this is a way to keep people working.
I am looking for a list of parts for the upgrade and another list of what people had replaced during the frame replacement, and if labour was charged, or if it was parts only.
Like shocks, steering racks, suspension, etc.
My truck is perfect otherwise. I take really good care of it and since retirement I tend to drive my sports cars instead all summer long.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

My Tacoma frame finally got installed! It's been at the dealership for almost a year, but my truck and I live south of the border. I was finally able to get my truck rollbacked across the border to the dealership and back. The dealer (1000 Islands Toyota) did a nice job, especially considering I was unable to bring it in myself. Took a long time, but I'm a happy guy!20210221_151922.jpg PXL_20210202_163944103.jpg 1612445513175_1612445485599_1612445484307_PXL_20210203_165027603.jpg

Hey, happy you got yours completed. Did you have to re register it as a Canadian truck, or did it stay registered in the US?

I had the opposite problem my 2006 is in Canada but an American truck. So I talked with Toyota Canada and US they kept saying the opposite company had to do the inspection. So after much time Toyota US hesitantly agreed. But I was approaching the deadline and I was told I had to register or import the truck back to the states (didn’t make sense to me) but by this time the truck failed inspection cause of the frame, so I had no way to even get it the the states. Especially since I was a broke student at the time. so now it’s been parked since and the deadline has long passed.

But anyways I am just curious what hoops did you have to jump through ? And maybe a quick rough timeline of events?

    thanks in advance!

I didn't have to register it in Canada. I also spoke to Toyota US and Toyota Canada. Toyota US said they couldn't do it (out of date anyways) but Toyota Canada said they would do it - just it had to be at a Canadian dealership. I got it in just before the deadline for 2007s, then waited 11 months for the frame to get delivered to the dealership. By the time the frame got to the dealership, COVID had shut down the border. After a year of off and on looking, the dealership and I found a towing company willing to take my truck across the border on a rollback. The driver got hassled taking it into Canada (needed a letter from me and the dealer) and got hassled bringing it back to the US (no manifest) but made it across both times. Pain in his neck though.

Just got my frame done in NS - 2010 tacoma double cab sr5 175 k - was a little nervous after reading through all of these posts - when I sent it in I knew there were lots of things wrong with the truck, AC was gone, steering rack was questionable, shocks gone, it wasn't shifting smoothly - I asked about that and if I got parts would they put them on - they told me they submit a complete list of needed parts to Toyota Canada for approval and they would let me know what got covered. Well it came back and they covered just an insane amount of parts - almost $12000 on the work order they gave me - all those worn out from steering components, park neutral switch, ac compressor and clutch, shocks, brake caliper etc. It was weird they told me that all that was part of the warranty but it would take about an extra $1500 in labour. They had the truck for about a week so add on the rental, labour and there is probably $23K + in that truck. I had to do a bit of exhaust work after, changed out the rotors and rear drums and I just have to change the rear bumper eventually which is a bit crusty but close to a new truck. Just glad to get this done waited almost a year since it got approved for the frame.
