In that graphic, is the dark shaded area of the frame considered the "green area" referenced in your attachment.?

They are most likely referring to the first go-around at the frame replacements in the past, not anything that would have occurred this year.

I believe so. I didn't have the original copy of the PDF and just a copy of it printed out in B/W.

This is what I understood it to refer to as well. That is why the one starting on 7/17/17 requires more thorough steps to be taken by the dealer. The first frame replacement started when I was a sales person and I would talk to the techs a good bit. It seemed that as long as it failed the visual inspection or if a hole was make by tapping with a ball peen hammer, they moved forward and ordered parts right away. I think the inspection process is the same, but just requires better documentation, which I can totally understand. These are very large warranty claims and pay the service departments a lot of money

i do not feel any pain for the Toyota corp. they did this to themselves. i had a 1988 Tacoma and the frame rusted into! we should be getting new trucks. the dealers deserve all the money they get .

I agree that Toyota brought this upon themselves. I was at the dealership for the 95-00 recall as well when they had the buy back program for 150% of KBB. The side effect of the fraudulent claims is that it is now making the process slower for everyone involved in it now and all the people that had to wait months to get it fixed in the first campaign. This recall shouldn't even be happening because Toyota should've fixed the issue the first time with the 95-00 trucks. That didn't happen and now we are here.

I'm still on the sales side of the dealership, just not a sales person anymore. We would be thrilled if they were doing the buy back deal again because there would be a lot more sales of new Tacomas. (Inventory would be an issue though.) I believe that the crazy high resale value of used Tacomas has everything to do with the decision to replace frames instead of buying them back.

My truck for example is a 2006 TRD Sport D-cab 6spd with 63k. KBB retail is just shy of $20k. Under the original program, they would be cutting a check for almost $30k and even at 100% of KBB, they can replace the frame for less. In the end, I just happy that I'm getting a frame out of the deal. I was prepared to pay for it myself so now I'll have a 63k mile truck with a new frame for $8k +T&T :bananadance::cheers:

Mine was submitted Monday. I'm curious as to why it is taking so long to hear back from Toyota?

Waiting at the dealer now as they look at it. The "know-it-all" chick working the service counter is already giving me a hard time because I wanted to talk to the tech

Talk to a manager. I deal directly with a manager they get shit done quick and good. Some service advisers can be a pain.

I haven't received an answer back from mine yet either, but my inspection was just yesterday. I'm the first for my dealership under this new campaign.

Figured I'd sign up and give an update an on my inspection today considering the live videoing sounds like it's new. My frame is basically one solid piece of rust. 232K. Lots of flaking, a nice hole by the cat that isn't completely thru but it's close. Big hole at the rear end. The frame did fail inspection and parts are ordered.

Toyota corporate were actually live on video looking at the frame, then pics were needed for documentation. So they said..

They completed the recall for the springs. They had to burn the u bolts off; ended up putting my lift blocks in the bed.
Did the same to my cousin years ago. There is only a half inch of the new u bolts left after mounting without blocks so I guess I'll need new ones. Kind of pissed me off but I can't complain. It was an easy process. They were professional and I get a new frame.

All that said, the other local dealer said I was not eligible for this based on my VIN so they can take a hike. It was a couple weeks ago but he said he knew about the situation coming up.

That's a good question about the hitch. I didn't ask. No clue. Maybe others can chime in.

I don't know about the hitch receiver either. Hopefully, because mine is worse than the frame. Does anyone have a list of stuff they have to replace? I know they have to do coolant flush, alignment, brake fluid change, some brake lines, lower control arms, bushings, etc.
