I thought the lawsuit taught us not so have anything replaced by the dealer during frame swap. People were coming home to its bills upwards of 2k$.

Anybody have a list for what’s included for parts with the frame replacement? They called and told me I need power steering lines for another 400 !

I believe you have the right to buy the parts (presumably at a discount) yourself, wherever you like, and they will install at no cost to you, if it needed to be removed during frame replacement.

Woo hoo! My frame and supporting parts came in today! I'm taking it into work tomorrow so they can start. I'm going to get new shocks and I'm probably going to buy a new hitch since the original is rusty as can be and is not covered under the frame deal. I am most likely just going to get an aftermarket hitch instead of paying for an OEM one. I'll know for sure tomorrow after I call for a price on the hitch from a shop that we deal with for accessories.

Picked up my truck today. I got a bill of 3.5k got a new radiator, serpentine belt, idler & tensioner among alot of things. It took 8 weeks to get my frame in. Took 3 days to do all the work because of the out of my pocket things I decided to do. Over all I think the job was done good. I have found 3 pieces of trim loose 2 are broken for sure but they still hold and you can't see it so I don't care. I'll keep you boys posted for any major issues I run into.

I would show you if it was a list but it's my receipt which is like 9 pages long. But I'll make a special list just for you :

    Radiator
    Serpentine belt (tensioner and idler)
    Alternator
    Transmission fluid and filter
4X4 fluid (transfer and both differential)
    4 tires
    Front pads and rotors
New TPMS sensors 3 dead 2 low so I told them to do all 5
    Parking brake adjustment
New rear & front main seal
    Valves cover gaskets

Shocks and struts were recommended but I didn't want to them.

I did ask if the frame replacement include new trans and 4x4 fluid was told corp said not to replaced them just to put the same one in, I don't know and I don't care.

Fuck it. I know I coulve gotten a lower price else where but honestly guys 1k or 500 bucks less does not make me poor or rich. I'm just glad my frame is replaced. On March my truck did not pass inspection and it was just getting worse so I rather pay 3.5k for things that have to be done then 15K for a fucking frame. I know everyone's financial situation is different but that's just how shit is.

Ok so having been a tech and working in dealerships and independent shops some of these things being charged during these frame swaps are things that would have to be done none the less. I bought an 05 DCLB that had the recall done but it just had the undercoating done and wow what a sloppy job I will be slowly grinding everything down and actually doing it right. I also wonder if my frame gets any worse would I get a new frame?

example: @Edwinc357 had an e-brake adjustment ummm needs to be done when you strip a vehicle down completely like that and swap frames should of never been charged. If you paid labor for anything like your radiator replacements, struts, blah, blah, blah. You need to tell them you are not paying for the labor on those things they are taking them off to swap to the new frame. Struts maybe an hr labor to compress springs etc but that's it really. I don't know if any of y'all who have already had the frames swapped paid any labor for other things but just be weary of the dealership trying to make some $$$ off of you in labor because the manufacturers sure don't pay them a lot, and recall's are more of a pita to deal with than regular customers.

That being said since I am no longer a tech and now do not have a good place to work on my truck I take it to the dealer. When I just had the rear leaf pack recall done I had them change the rear shocks I only paid them an additional .25 hr for them to take the top 2 nuts off the shocks to do them. I let them know up front my experience and how those things work. A word of advice is try and find out if there is any cross labor and to what extent so you don't over pay for the labor that is where a lot of expense can come in.

My frame is being replaced next week. I am bringing my own rear shocks to be put on. I was told to replace the Sway Bar Links. The truck is a 2009 with 65,000 miles on it. Is there anything else that you recommend replacing?

Why are you changing the rear shocks? In my experience 70k is a recommended interval to change shocks and struts though I didn't start seeing a decrease in their abilities until around 90k. I would suggest what ever the service intervals are for the t-case, differentials, transmission, if anything else is worn I would replace that as well which it may or may not be. When it comes to changing my flds. i do the t-case and diffs around every 20k and the trans every 30k I do not know off the top of my head what the service interval toyota suggests for those. Now those fld changes there will be labor charged due to not needing to drain them for the frame swap. Coolant on the other hand they will be draining and replacing. Put some miles on that truck it needs to get driven! That is one low mileage vehicle for the age. I got my truck back in Jan and have already clocked 25k this yr so far (that's on the extreme end).

The rear shocks are very rusty.I put Bilstein 5100's on the front last year and got them for the rear. Thank you for your reply. I don't have a far commute and use my motorcycle whenever possible! I like the 35+ miles per gallon..
