Did they spray your frame instead of replacing it and then it really fell apart .

I hope the juice is worth the squeeze.

For what it’s worth, other than taking a super long time, my truck has had zero problems after the swap. I did the 3rd gen suspension swap and I still can’t decide whether I like it or not. I maybe crazy, but I feel like it is more squishy then the old stuff. But I don’t care enough to do anything about it. I guess sometimes I get a brake line rattle on the fire wall that I can’t seem to find...:frusty:

Q= what makes your truck unmerchatable?
They gave you a new frame, right
what do you WANT them to do for you that has not been done?
AS a guy who got his frame replaced on truck that 12 year old truck for free,I am super happy.
Not trying to argue just hear your end.

That's what happened to mine originally now there are a couple of good sized holes and my frame is on order. I am excited for a new frame.

Good luck trying to prove intent on that lawsuit. How is that a write off? You do realize that there was already a class action lawsuit that you participated in by getting a new frame. Hope you have an extremely good lawyer and are ready to battle through all the court levels to win. When I went in to get my frame inspected the dealer preformed all open recalls for me. If there were issues with your dealer then I would be going after them. I don't see how your truck is unmarketable now, how did you come to that conclusion. When I was looking for my truck I knew about the recalls and such and wasn't going to shy away from a truck with open recalls because by law they have to be done free of charge. If they are done then that is even better no time at the dealer getting that stuff done and even better. What open recalls do you still have, if there are any take the truck in and have them done that is what a judge will tell you as he is laughing at you walking out of court because they have to be done.

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to the forum but have been following along for quite some time. As a relatively recent new owner of a used Taco let me first just say that this community has been an invaluable resource..!

At any rate, I just wanted to chime in and share that I too am awaiting a frame replacement and was told it should arrive in 1 month... we shall see. As a result, I have been reading over a lot of what has already been discussed in this thread and was hoping to get some feedback pertaining specifically to the addition of a lift.

I have seen this has been touched on earlier in the thread but am curious, should I wait to do so after the frame is replaced or should I have them tackle the task during the rebuild..? As has also already been pointed out much of what would be upgraded with the addition of a lift will already be getting replaced and/or disassembled for the frame replacement. It would seem to me that it might be a good time to pull the trigger. Thoughts..?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I was told I'd be waiting 6wks and 2 wks later it was here and now it's getting replaced. As for your lift it depends on your dealer some can be iffy with that crap also depends on the tech working on it and his attitude towards aftermarket accessories and performance mods. I would inquire and see what they say. If no then get active in the threads around your area and look for a mod day or host one where some guys with experience can help you if you don't feel comfortable tackling it.

Additionally IF you do not have lift done at dealer.Ask them to put your upper control arm bolts in "BACKWARDS", so if later on you add new upper control arms you don't have to CUT the bolts and buy a new set, you can just unbolt them and reuse.

I didn't have to do that I used the persuasion of a BFPB and a BFH and they came out. I did replace the old ones with new ones and put anti-sieze on the bolt so it wouldn't seize to the bushing sleeves.

It does all seem rather discretionary... I will most definitely be inquiring. If it's something they're comfortable addressing and I can avoid the additional labor charges as a result of the frame swap, I will be taking advantage of the opportunity. Although, I wouldn't mind tackling it on my own after the dust settles. We shall see how they reply. I much appreciate your feedback.

I can see how this would be helpful. Why then is this not general practice..?

Thanks so much for your input.

Because it's easier to put the bolt in the other way on the assembly line. Really who knows it's all guessing.

Welcome to TW :hattip: I think it’s obviously up to the dealer if they want to install your lift so you should talk to them about it .

Just got a call from the dealer truck is on the Alignment rack and if all is good then pick up tomorrow :yay::yay::yay::yes::woot::woot:

And they called with some stuff they found that could use being replaced but weren't going to charge a dime in labor. I only told them to do one of the items since the part is only avail. through toyota so why not let them replace it and I don't have to deal with the hassle later on. Those who are getting hit with extra labor for things that are comping apart anyways really need to look closer at the dealers they are going. There are ways to fix bad dealership practices like that.

    Hey, thanks..!

Just spoke with the dealer. Frame is on order and they gave the green light for the lift addition.

Good stuff..! I look forward to receiving that phone call as well.

With regards to the labor, I was actually told there may be additional labor charges for the front end because they don't take the suspension apart. Now I don't know exactly with whom I spoke, but they didn't seem to know exactly what they were talking about.

How do you replace a frame if you don't remove everything attached to it? They're obviously already removing the suspension. If I bring them the overcoil preassembled, how could they possibly have anything more to do than simply rebuild the truck..?

That's BS they replace everything and have to transfer all your old struts over, sway bar, etc. You'll get new LCAs cam bolts and the like. My dealer did mine without fuss really. I think your dealer is just not wanting to do it.

Here is a parts list break down of what they are replacing now a newly updated version now vs. what they were doing before. Or that's what I was told. Everything else that isn't listed is taken off of your old frame and put on the new one.

Yeah, I couldn’t agree more. I’m convinced that whomever I spoke with really didn’t know what they were talking about. That or perhaps, I simply wasn’t clear.

In either case, when I show up with the components to be installed there will be no confusion. The labor has already been accounted for.

Thanks for forwarding that parts list, by the way. I’m much obliged.
