Living in AZ with your dry climate makes all the difference in the world. I live in the state of saltachusetts in a town called brine, on a dead-end called pothole alley. :frusty:

Hey, I'm just up the line from you in Salt Hampshire. Ironically (or something) I live in a town whose name literally means 'salt town'. And I live on a so-called Class 6 road, meaning un-maintained. Driving home is an off-roading experience. The frame on my 2007 was swiss cheese, and they gave me a new one just last July. I'm old enough to where I'm hoping it'll last for as long as I can drive.

@tcBob - Just an update to the link provided at the start of this thread. I just talked to Toyota about the letter I just got in the mail that extended the warranty enhancement from the latter of 12 years from the "in-service date" to January 31, 2019. This means that everyone is covered until January 31, 2019, regardless if they're over the 12 years "in-service date". Toyota also said you can bring it in the have it inspected anytime, with there being no cutoff on the number of times.

    Yep.
Got the same thing this week... too bad my old AC was parted out because they said I was SOL. Should have let it sit for two more years :annoyed:.

Sorry to hear that :( , you wouldn't by chance have parts still for sale? I ask because my fuse cover inside the engine compartment was damaged and was looking for a replacement.

Yeah, loved that truck. Everything works out though, currently building up an 09 RC now.

80% of it is gone however, I might still have that. Let me check ye ol' parts bins later and I'll let you know

Time to jump in on this thing a little late, but I'm taking in my '08 Tacoma to get inspected a second time(In CA) because I found a perforation the first dealership "missed" and everything on the truck is falling off.
I'll post pics when I can, but I was initially turned down for a reaplcement because the CRC undercoating had already been applied. I decided to read the settlement and low and behold you still get a replacement regardless of undercoating... What do ya know. If anyone's got any tips on what to say at the dealer I'd love to know.
    Thanks TW

You could try just pointing them to the relevant page/pages in the settlement. BTW Where does it say mention that a frame can be replaced even if CRC has been applied.

This webpage, click the second doc I belive, the "Settlement agreement"
    http://www.toyotaframesettlement.com/home/documents/

Ctrl F in the PDF and search Exhibit 11, then read that section.
If you read through it carefully, it makes no mention of denying a frame replacement if the coating has been applied. it does mention checking before applying another coating though.
    Here is a quote.

"Toyota dealerships shall inspect the frames of the Subject Vehicles presented to determine whether a frame should be replaced pursuant to the Settlement Agreement. Based upon the results of the inspection described below, and if perforation of the frame from rust corrosion meets or exceeds the standards for frame replacement, as defined below, the Subject Vehicle’s frame and associated parts shall be replaced by Toyota at no charge to the Class Member. If the perforation of the frame does not meet or exceed the standard for frame replacement, the vehicle is currently registered in a CRC State1 , and the vehicle has not previously received Corrosion-Resistant Compounds (“CRC”) or a new frame, pursuant to the prior Limited Service Campaign (“LSC”), then the dealer or authorized sublet facility will apply CRC to the Subject Vehicle’s frame."

So unless the dealer interperates this much differently than me, which is a possibuility, then Im about to go in and get a new frame. The previous owner of my truck had the undercoating done in 2016, and it continued to rust and currently has a few perforations greater than 10mm...

As did I. Idaho isn't on their list of "Cold Climate" states, but Toyota said my truck was covered and I've got an inspection scheduled.

The coating can only be applied in old weather states because other dealers dont stock it. The frame replacement, however, is universal.

Update on my '07: Finally had it go in for the swap starting October 15th. Supposed to be done on Wednesday.

About $1200 worth of other random repairs done as well. Valve cover gaskets, upper ball joints being the big ones.

And picked it up today. Happy with the results, they even swapped out the exhaust. Rides really nice with the brand new suspension (the truck is now on its 5th set of leaf springs...), since they even replaced the shocks.

Ended up being $1400 out of pocket for me for some of the supplemental stuff. Toyota paid the dealer $14k for the repairs plus several hundred for the 5 weeks of rental. Somewhat crazy for a vehicle that's got well under that in economic value (it's got 200k on it!).

I paid for new valve cover gaskets, new upper ball joints, rear brakes, replacement diff vent, a replacement steering rack[1], a neutral switch assembly[2], and a few other random things (tire swap)

[1] That one I inspected before the work, and yeah, it was in *bad* shape
[2] The old one was seized up. Surprisingly expensive part
