I love post like this so often in comparison to Ford and Fiat..I mean Jeep. These other brands apart from Toyota offer “more” but the reliability with electrical nightmares follow by engine/transmission issues are beyond comprehension. Of course they need to offer “more” to attract sales. Jeeps are a dressed up ATV with horrendous mpg for a daily and their price tag is beyond ridiculous, not to mention they’ve been on the edge of bankruptcy in numerous occasions. As for Ford, I read an article 3 month ago that they have done so bad that they are only going to focus on some of their trucks and SUV’s to stay above water. So pick your poison, I guess you will be very comfortable on your modern Fiat/Ford when your truck is on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck. Lol

You don't need those things. Or they can't be done. Or they're impractical. Or they have no place in the marketplace and don't reflect blah blah blah herp de derp. You'll be asking for a solid front axle next which is impossible and impractical and can't be done in the US of America because reasons.

I dont need them, I wont pay for them, and they’re not offered. I was just saying that tacomas do indeed have less components. It would be cool to have them tho.

What Bronco? I waited 2 years for the new Bronco, then gave up and bought a 20 Tacoma. A year later there's still no Bronco!

    No shit ....
The OP seems to be bent that his fancy new rig doesn't have ... 'Remote Start' ... That they have to walk trough a little bit of snow and start their rig up. WTF, really???
Hell, I'm pretty deliriously happy that I don't have to get out of the cab and twist the 'hub locks' on to get 4WD. I'm pretty happy that to get my rig into 4W-LO ... I don't have to stop .. Put it in neutral .. Shift into 4W-LO ... Back it up about 20 feet .. Go forward again.. Hopefully the transfer case engages without grinding gears ... Shift back into drive and 4WD ... And have it in 'LO'....
I'm pretty happy I have more than 3 wiper speeds.. I'm pretty GD happy that my new rig has a ba-zillion more features than I ever even dreamed it would have. I'm happy that even my Plain Jane with the crappy Firestone 'Destination' tires climbs up our snowy/icey dirt-road driveway just fine .. I'm pretty happy with GD everything.
To be pissed that it doesn't have a remote start or push-button, or anything else is ... If it was MY son I'd of bitch-slapped him into next Thursday if he complained about 'Oh WAAAAH! No remote start! Waaaaahh!!' (Especially as he can't even drive a stick...)

The only option i care about is power windows. Everything else? Really dont give a shit. Give me some HVAC, radio with a CD and 3 pedals. Im good to go. Some people got so spoiled holy shit.

Ive used my heated seat once in 2 years. My wife on the other hand uses those heated seats everytime she rides with me haha. My first ride was 90 b2200 MT with no tach, still miss that thing...

I think everyone is spoiled to some degree.
My first car had roll down windows , no AC ,no rear defroster ( that was an option back then ), 4 speed manual and a clutch that unless you had a 16 inch calf muscle you would struggle. Every vehicle today
    Is amazing compared to then.

    Yep.

My last and newest vehicle was 2007 ranger 4.0 5mt. It is a dinasour compared to my taco. But i really still miss it and wish i could have kept it somehow. Was an awesome truck, simple and built like a tank. It was very reliable, just heavy on gas.

Its all in comparison. Taco is a beautiful machine and a great tool.

Wrong. People see other companies putting all these fancy features on trucks and they want them. Ofcourse, they wont pay the $65k price tag that comes along with them...otherwise they’d buy those other vehicles. I want the TRD OR to gave a locking front diff, but $36k for a mid size truck is already a lot. What I would want is a basic trim with all the off road features...kinda like ford does on the ranger.

I shopped the new 4Runner and agree it’s a hard sell. Like the Tacoma there’s a reputation and demand tax. I thought the limited was outrageous at over 50k MSRP. Especially considering everything on it that adds value compared to other brands is 10 year old tech. The rest of the technology features are pretty standard for vehicles priced 35k and up.

As for the Tacoma, I’m entering the sunset years on my 2nd gen and starting to look at trucks. I like the TRD OR at 38k, but with production shortages and popularity running prices into the mid 40s you really start to expect perfection at that price for a mid size.

And as much as the Tacoma offers , that so so performing 3.5L is tough to stomach in a 45-50k vehicle. At that price I’d expect a better performing v6 motor or even a twin turbo v6. I’ve pretty much decided to wait for the 2022/23 Tundra as a first option, or buy a used current gen Tundra if the refresh is a dud.

LOL I had it for over a year. Paid $39K Carvana offered $36K cash. Not bad for resale 18 months. I just realized I wanted something smoother with added capability where I need it. The Ridgeline ticks all the boxes. Nothing wrong with the Ranger I would buy another before a Turd Gen. I don't need a body on frame. I wanted an SUV ride with pick up capabilities,

Spoiler: If Carvana did not make such a generous offer... I liked I was going to keep the Ranger and trade it for a 2021 Ridgeline. I would have never received $36K from CarMax ($30K) dealers $28-$30K Not enough. The Carvana process is extremely easy much better than dealing with a brick and mortar dealer, The 2021 Ridgeline is better looking IMO.

got this error today sitting in the driveway, so I guess another error to add to the other 7.

You got it... One of my very first rigs, a 64' Dodge D-100 ... An 'option' on it was the windshield wiper fluid spraying on the windshield.
There was a little pump on the floorboard you had to work with yer foot to get anything to spray on the windshield. (Like working a spray bottle, just with yer foot) .. The heater was either ON or OFF. Blower had 'OFF-LOW-HIGH'.. You had the choice of the heat blowing on 'Defroster' or .. Floor. No dash vents or mixing of anything.
Three-on-the-Tree ... It was a Slant-6, so the clutch was not that big of deal ...
I'm soooo grateful for all the new whizz-bangs on rigs these days, you have no idea! LOL!

I Like simple things best... I do enjoy useful 'bells and whistles', but I despise fluff... This is what attracted me to the Tacoma. New / recent vehicles are often stupid silly. (Electric e-brake, tap forward / back auto gearbox shift levers (WTF), uber complex media gizmos that do not work, etc... these relegate driving to being a passenger (victim) as you drive - but ESPECIALLY when some silly gizmo goes wrong...

I do not mind roll-down windows... and non-motorized seats (as long as they can be adjusted!) but the motorized window versions are quite reliable these days...

I'm happy for the old fashioned key in the manual (if said Tacoma with my name on it ever arrives)... The key actually enables capabilities unavailable with start button... (manually and selective starter motor engagement, for example...)

    - And I would choose the little 4WDLow shift lever in a second over the silly dial... especially at times when the 4WDLow hesitates to engage... I can push / pull a lever and feel engagement. I 'd gladly do without the silly twisty knob thing.
