That makes no sense, my truck only has 18k miles on it and it actually failed.

Update was released a few days ago on 9/30. 324k Tacomas in Phase 4. I called this morning and have my appointment for next Tuesday. You would think they would have shipped the first batch of pumps to the dealers prior to the release since we've waited this long. Also says that the fix should take 2 hours so if the dealer says they need it all all day they are either swamped or penalizing you for their inefficiency.

I received the notice in the mail like everyone else about the issue but no remedy. The last time I took it in for service he mentioned the recall and told me when my Vin came up I should get the recall and set an appointment. He also mentioned to have the gas at 1/4 tank since the tank has to be dropped. I am still waiting!!

Maybe a dumb question but does our fuel mileage change ? I'd be very disappointed with worse fuel mileage

Fuel mileage should not change. The pump is just the delivery system.

I wonder if my 2018 has held up well with over 40k on it now because I have been using premium gas from the start. Many gas station offer ethanol free gas as their premium grade which is what I typically get.

Mine failed at about 10k and they put one of the old ones in and it’s running fine. I’ll take it to the dealer in December as long as it holds up after I...not them...change the oil and rotate the tires when it’s due.

I called Toyota Corp and asked them why my dealer needed the exact mileage and they said they don't. They said they will contact the dealer and I will be getting a call back. I got the call back from the dealer and they were super nice and said they just need an estimate of the mileage (which I had given the dealer) and they will get back to me when they receive the part.

It just sounds like theyre collecting data to get a better sense of the failure rate and failure mileage. Nothing wrong with that. They record that information when you get the recall done anyways. No need to act prissy about it.

I didn't have failure. I was just calling to get in for the recall and they demanded specific mileage and I gave them a close estimate and they insisted on it being specific. I walk to work so I did not have access to it. They were the ones getting prissy about it and I could not understand why it was necessary.

how did it go? I have a FJ that is recalled, but havent gone in yet. The FJ forums make it sound like the techs are messing up the fuel level float, forgetting to reconnect the evap hoses, etc. I was planning on waiting till next year before I take mine in so the tech assigned to recall pump replacements gets plenty of practice.

For those who have scheduled their Tacomas, try to keep a 1/4 tank or less of fuel when you drop it off. It will help the technician immensely.

I saw that as well in the FJ Blue Room.

No trouble so far and I gave it a good run to the airport in NYC today.
Fuel gage works and no other issues for now.
