Welp, needless to say this will be one of my last posts here now. I ordered a Taco Double Cab Off Road MGM with ONLY Predator steps. I did this about 4-5 weeks ago. I was very excited and loved the Taco on the first test drive. However, almost every experience with Toyota has been very lack luster and made me feel very unappreciated as a new Toyota buyer.

Anyways, I started to look around at other trucks. I was considering the RAM diesel and I posted a thread about it. However, it was not meant to be as it had some bad reviews I did not like. I test drove the F150 2.7 a while back and I loved the engine, but the truck I drove was only an XL extended cab. Didnt like the interior. However, this past week I went back to Ford to look at a 2.7 eco, Crew Cab Sport edition XLT. I absolutely LOVED it! Dealership offered me a pretty decent price, but I just wasnt ready to pull the trigger. I really did want to see how the Taco would turn out.

I got a call Friday saying my truck came in earlier than expected. Dont know if they did a dealer trade, or shifted a delivery pattern, but I was excited. I went down on Sat fully ready to take the truck home. Go over to the truck, had SOLD on it with my last name on the tag. They totally messed up my order!!!!
-I ordered the orange stiching package with orange bezel, The one they ordered was the white stiching and grey bezel.
-I ordered ONLY predator steps, this had the all weather mat and door sill package and NO pred steps!

Needless to say I was not happy! I really wanted the orange accented seats, I didnt want to pay extra for floor mats, and I wanted Pred steps! They said this was my truck I ordered and came from toyota and was not a dealer trade or anything. It simply wasnt what I ordered and the sales guy even said it was wrong! I said I would take it if they offered me a considerable discount for screwing up my order. They said NO more discount would be applied as they can sell the truck within a week!!!!! Are you freaking kidding me! Good job Toyota, you just lost a new customer who will be posting this experience on social media. It may not be toyota but the dealership, either way all along this whole experience I was told everyone wants these trucks and they can be sold very easily. So my experiences at dealerships have not been great.

I went back to Ford that same day, they gave me a fully loaded F150 XLT for $15 more a month and they threw in a bed mat and lifetime power train warranty at that dealer. Done!!!! I now will be driving an F150 instead.
-dual front 8 position power heated seats
-302A tech package, 8" digital screen with Sync 3
    -Sport console shifter
-rear back up cam with bumper sensors
    -FX4 off road package
-2 110 volt 3 prong plugs in the cabin with rear seat vents
-Enough room in the back seats to fits Shaq
All for $15 more with proven same if not better gas mileage and since its aluminum will never rust.

All I see on here is people complaining about their new tacomas, the tranny issues, the noises, the vibrations, the cheap plastics, the crappy tires, the low fluids, also pretty crappy warranty. So all in all I am pretty happy the screwed up my order which allowed me to get a better truck with everything I actually wanted.

If you are happy I'm happy for you. If Ford still had a Ranger I would own one.

How does a truck with $13000 higher MSRP turn into $15/mo? Must be a longer term loan?

    No mods whatsoever!
I've read as many complaints about the eco motor. I would've gone with the 8 cylinder for towing. Good luck with it.

The Fords are nice trucks, 2.7 seems a bit small for a full size, turbo will be spooled all the time.

One of the biggest problems with Toyota is the dealers and salesmen. Frankly, way to many of them suck, are ignorant, or employed when they should have been kicked to the curb long ago. Neither of my Toyota purchases in the past two years were what I'd call positive though the second one, [Taco] was FAR better then my 2014 FJ purchase. That one was pretty much hate and rage on my part due to complete incompetance on their part. Still don't know if part of that was on purpose simply because they could have made more on the vehicle if I had decided to back out.

Aluminum may not rust but it corrodes. And the frame is still steel. Not bashing ford as I have one and work at a ford dealership. Just saying.

So did you really send a truck back because a tiny bit of stitching was a different color? The predator steps can be added really quick at the dealer

Maybe you already made up your mind that you wanted the Ford after you committed to the Tacoma and found a way out.

Also why does your avatar picture have a quicksand 2016 if you didn't ever get a Tacoma?

    Too bad for that dealer.

$15 more a month for 84 months vs 60 I would imagine, and aluminum has a hidden issue... Hope you don't get into an accident. BTW insurance companies now see repairs on aluminum sheet metal and the monthly insurance code between a Tacoma and aluminum F150 is a LOT more than that $15 a month you have on the payment.

The Ford didn't come with Predator steps? :p

Most people don't cross-shop midsize trucks with full-size.

Rust develops on the steel frame, not on the body. Aluminum was chosen by Ford purely to save weight (to compensate for weight gains elsewhere, like an iron-block engine).

Note the offer sheet had Quicksand crossed out and changed to MGM. YotaTaco16 was probably wishy-washy while talking with the dealer.
