    A few minor things...
Does anyone think they could make this an update to existing head units? Or is there a hardware portion that would need to be replaced.

We won't see it. 2020s might get it. It's going to take more processing power and storage than our head units have.

For that I might trade in the truck. With the tranny fix now they can concentrate on the ‘smaller’ stuff.

    ^This

Has Toyota Nav improved since 2015?
I haven't even attempted to use it in my '18, as I don't want to be as outright pissed as with my first attempts in my '15 Yota. That shit was beyond botched.

Ok, same as '15 then. :frusty:

I wonder if the voice recognition has improved. In all seriousness, I probably won't even try it..

I'm a little disappointed in overall sound, but fine with the interface. Wish I'd gotten whatever option included the JBL upgrade tho..

No, we will not get this.

A quality aftermarket head unit w/Android Auto can be had for ~$600 new so no need to trade in the whole vehicle???

I've been using andriod auto on my kenwood for about a month now...

Andriod auto is a safety feature. It sucks. It fights for control of your phone everytime it connects. I no longer use it

Best functionality is YouTube or pandora bluetooth to your head unit into the speakers, google maps up on your phone, and for me I'm running the idatalink guages on the head unit or a movie for the kid.

There's a long way to go on the Nav system, but they know when and where to dangle the carrots..

While I find the nav enemic, it gets the job done. Of coarse, my phone has to connect to it cause I don’t have the premium crap, but it worked great getting to the Disney pavilion for children hospital in Orlando. First time used. Oh, also, used it to get home.

Seems to me that one of the reasons for the dislike of the Entune Nav is that some just don't take the time to learn how use it. I just went on a 1600 mile road trip and it worked fine for me. Easy enough to locate POI's along the way like gas stations, dining, rest areas, etc. using voice commands or the touch screen. The cost for the map updates is insane but can pick up updates cheap on eBay for a fraction of the cost of the dealer.

Can't say I agree, the voice recognition is awful and the way you need to talk your way through the menu system is a joke. I'll give you $100 if you can get it to understand that you want to stop at In-N-Out Burger. Usually when I ask it to stop somewhere or find coffee or whatever, it ends up "OK, calling Duncan" or some bullshit.

I have tried the voice commands at least 15 times. Not once has it worked. Same thing if my wife tries on her 16 Rav4. Entune is absolutely garbage.

If we're going somewhere we've never been, the phone is setup with the destination along with the entune Nav. Entune always takes the long way or a bad route. Sometimes it's 30 miles off. Not just the occasional wrong turn. Worst thing about my truck by a mile.

I will agree that the navigation system is a PITA to enter an address. I have never tried to get a route from my phone (android) at the same time. I would guess differences to be primarily due to options and programming. Things like avoiding toll roads, inner city, etc.

My wife also has huge difficulty using the voice commands; I rarely have problems with the voice controls though it is an occasional problem. This seems to be an accent and enunciation thing based on my experience. My wife raises her voice and speaks in her sexy Oklahoman accent, yes I said it, "Call ______" She get frustrated when it comes up with all 3 or 4 Mikes as well as "bike store" or other phonetically similar. Me, on the other hand, will speak clearly and distinctly as if I am talking to someone who is not a native US English speaker. I also speak the entire entry as it is in my phone like "Bill the concrete guy" or "Mitchel painter" for an entry of "Mitchel - Painter" Admittedly, I have never asked the system to find a restaurant or anything.

We don't have toll roads where I am. We went to a wedding in Montana a few weeks ago. The phone said 45 minutes from the hotel, the truck said 1:15. I left it on just to see where the difference was. The truck wanted to go down dirt roads that are in the middle of nowhere. The phone took the fast paved roads. When we got back, I couldn't find anything in the settings on the entune unit, but would take advice if there's something I'm overlooking.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Try using the MS Sync system in a Ford! That is a total POS.
