Toyota installed an aftermarket lift kit from amazon instead of TRD on ordered truck.

I feel bad for you. They knew what you wanted and somehow did not make it happen for you. They cheaped out. The good news is that it is a lease. don't throw more money at a lease. Just turn it in when you are done, walk away, and take your business elsewhere. Have a lease ready to go at another dealership and have the other dealership come pick you up from the dealership that dinked you.

20 years ago a guy parked a car across the street from the Ford dealer with they sold me a lemon sign. He kept it there for months, he finally got satisfaction.

I've been sure to tell people about my experience with 2 local GM dealers and the corporate office about 9 years ago. I figure worst case is I cost them more money than what they cheated me out of, so that's something

The monroney sticker is useful for the OP because it will help him itemize the dealer accessories that were added to the truck. The Monroney sticker will have the price of the truck based on the factory/port options installed (if everything is correct, it should match the Build sheet he posted minus the accessories he added at the dealer. His lease agreement will state the agreed upon price (before any trade in, downpayment, title, and registration) which would include all the accessories he added.

Those 2 documents are the only ammo the OP has to fill in the gaps of what he agreed to add as dealer options. Without some sort of accessory purchase agreement it gets a little messy, BUT if the numbers line up and the lease agreement price was listed as $46,451 from the build sheet below, it would be reasonable to claim that he was not supplied with what he agree to purchase. That is still a BIG IF because it doesn't include the tires or labor for install.

His best bet is still to either:
    A. Get the lift removed and refunded which the dealer said they were willing to do.
    B. Keep the lift and have the dealer fix the TSS, and warranty the lift that they installed.

It is never a good idea to "turn in a lease" unless you have negative equity in it from high miles, wear and tear, or a market adjustment. Even if you are going to lease another Tacoma, you should treat it as the dealer will buy out the lease and add it to their used car inventory as a CPO. My wife had a leased Mazda CX-5 that she put 10000 miles on over the length of the lease. If she turned it in she would have walked away from $4000. Technically they bought out the lease at its residual of$17k and paid her $4000 since they offered her $21000 for it. Obviously the $4000 is directed as a down payment on her next car. But any dealer will work the transaction this way to put you in a new car. But you could even buy it out and sell it privately (as long as the tax bill doesn't cancel out the profit.)

I bought my truck in 2020, but I had the dealer run the lease numbers at the same time. My residual on a TRD OR with premium and tech would have been around $32k. Obviously the market is ridiculous right now, but a 3 year old TRD OR with premium and tech is going for $6-7k more than that.

I’m not so sure about that but I don’t know enough about it to argue it. I’d think just like adding aftermarket suspension vs their official trd lift kit means your suspension is no longer covered, along with anything they can prove (or you disprove) was affected by the modification. Isn’t that the point of them offering the kit themselves? To keep the truck TSS compatible therefore warrantied?

I agree with this, I’d get the money back and start fresh, and not do business with the dealer after the lease is up.

Oh absolutely. Im not saying to accept what this dealer did. They definitely tried to pull a fast one and should have used OEM . Maybe they have done this in the past and have gotten away with it..
My point was so many people get scared off by dealers bending the truth to pad their registers forbidding any aftermarket mods, and using ‘no more warranty’ as their reason. Here we have a dealer using non Toyota parts on a brand new truck. They cant have it both ways.

I'm just amazed at the number of responses that blindly accept that the Toyota webpage the OP printed legally binds the dealership to build his truck to that spec.
By all appearances the two documents are not connected in anyway.

There are at least two sides to every story. Unfortunately it's a common trait for people to side with and believe who tells the story first.

A guy here in Florida had vinyl decals all over his Kia saying "Daytona Kia rips off old people" They sued him or threatened to because shortly after that it then said "In my opinion" before the rips off old people line. I'd be a little careful with public statements or business shaming unless you're prepared for a legal fight. Good ole, Hey lets talk about this will probably go further. JS

Usually true. I was lucky that my truck was a turned in lease with 6K miles because the original person had a baby on the way :)
