Toyota installed an aftermarket lift kit from amazon instead of TRD on ordered truck.

Will the other dealer put the ‘unsafe’ determination on paper?

Read the lease paperwork. Any out you can find?

I’d do what I could to dump it ASAP. They’re gonna ding you big time when the lease is up because you have an aftermarket lift on it..

I noticed it the next day, not 6 weeks later. The paperwork was a We Owe. They increased the price of the vehicle to accommodate the parts. The kit and all of that is not on the invoice, they just raised the price of the truck. I don't have a copy of the invoice right now. You guys are probably right that I should have asked, but I don't walk into the Oakley Store and ask for knock off's, and nobody told me an aftermarket existed. I bought the truck and built it online with OEM parts. The Toyota Paperwork WE OWE, just said Lift Kit. Didn't list aftermarket, or saying they were going somewhere else to get it. I questioned the guy when I picked it up if the kit was on it and if the TSS was calibrated correctly and he said yes. This is the kit that I added on Toyota's website when I built the car for those of you that don't understand what I am talking about.

Yeah, this dealership is sounding extra sleazy, I'd try to find a way to give them back the truck and walk away.

Do you have any documents showing submission of a build to the dealership with the TRD lift kit, that the dealership rogered up to?

    This is very simple.

If your Purchase Agreement specified TRD Lift Kit, then that is what should be installed. It is a contract. If the dealer installed something other than what is specified in the contract, then they have breached the contract. The contract needs to be specific on what is installed and the cost of the installed items

I believe you would not need to pay for those parts that are in breach of the contract (ie Purchase Agreement). Also, increasing the cost above the signed contract is also a breach.

Driven off the lot without inspection and paid......means you accepted the parts and cost.
    6 weeks grinding......

    You maybe SOL.

Contract forgery invalidates the contract. An attorney will cost you way more than $1200. Figure out what you want out of the lease deal at this point. I'd probably just drive it as is for now and then give it back at the end of the lease. If you're planning on buying it out save up for the lift you want and have someone other than the dealer do the work. I usually don't modify my vehicles much. Especially, daily drivers or leased vehicles.

The problem with that is you didn't build a truck on Toyota's website. Toyota doesn't get a print out of your "build" and then actually build a truck at the plant. You made a list of what you want which was then sent to dealers to try to sell you something close to that. Unfortunately you didn't read the paperwork or inspect the truck thoroughly enough and are basically out of luck if the dealership doesn't want to be nice and help you out.

Since the introduction of the TRD lift kit. The TRD beadlocks have been discontinued, I guess the Japanese FJ Cruiser is no more. The kit also deletes the fog lights, fog lights are the reason I would go with the TRD Tacoma to begin with.

Agreed, I think it just said lift kit and wasn't specific. Shady dealer tactics, but ultimately falls upon the buyer here for signing and buying as is. Doesn't matter what the salesperson said, unless it's specifically stated in writing buyer is SOL.

The only thing that said anything about a lift kit was the we owe which just said "Lift Kit" but they wrote the same thing for Running Boards etc. . I assume they do this often enough to know better than to be clear on the we owe incase this happens. Sounds like not much I can do.

Not to mention sometimes the car things the road signs on the highway are parked cars.. NO big deal that the collision avoidance could freak out or see right over the prius in front of me.

Oh maaaaannnnn...... I just reread your original post......

Leased vehicle means YOU don't own it. The DEALER owns the truck. You are just a RENTER.

I think you, OP, are in a no win situation.

Suggest you to read your Lease Agreement. See if there is a way to terminate the Lease.

    Good Luck.

The lift you might be SOL on from the sounds of it. This however is something I'd jump on them on. The work they did f'd up the TSS, they should fix it.

Paperwork should have Toyota part numbers.

Like others said it is a lease. Unless adding the parts brings down the overall lease price why add them? Can you even wheel in a leased vehicle?
