Had a 4runner TRD Pro and was not impressed with quality. Hood and mirrors flexed in the wind, front struts rode terrible and clunked when cold. I loved my 4th gen 4runner with the 4.7 V8......... Bulletproof.

Any of the fullsize offerings will be much more refined than the Tacoma, have more power, and get roughly equal fuel economy. The downsides are that they'll never hold value like the Tacoma and you lose the small truck feel. Small prices to pay as long as you plan to keep it a few years.

I've had new Rams and Fords in the past couple of years and both brands have been flawless. We also just bought my wife a Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel and we're loving it. It's getting between 25-27mpg mixed so far and mates perfectly with the 8-speed. It's nice in the Ram too, in my more limited experience.

Get a Ford. Work for ag a company thst put 30 to 50k on a truck per year. The Silverado's are in the shop way more often than the fords. I had a silverado for a few months and the truck rode like a bucking bronco vs the ford.

    None...yet
Have guys at work with all 3 and all are running v8, cylinder deactivation and ALL are getting 22+ MPG. Hard as this is to say for me...the Chevy is the clear winner on the power feeling running in shutdown mode.....it's the only one that doesn't feel like a gutless turd. The Ford, overall feels more gutless, has some rattles (plastic panels vibrating basically) yet has been the most reliable overall.......the Dodge (gulp!) has some really nice interior feel (to me) but has suffered transmission woes (and seeing as I worked in a Trans parts shop prior....dodge was known as "our bread and butter of the operation around here"). Quality on all 3 on first day, was on par, beautiful trucks. Each had their own things that made them shine.

All vehicles will have SOMETHING (as stated earlier)...what you are willing to give VS get....is the big question. We have one tundra running as a filler spot driver and he absolutely LOVES his as well as the one lone Titan driver (who is constantly screwing with his truck, a in school person who knows it all, even though, half his truck doesn't work properly any longer (large things...like AC....in AZ...with NO AC?! Are you crazy??!!), but has a one week, awesome sounding exhaust, following week, back to stock because of whatever issue his previous one(that remember was the BEST!!)...has caused the truck to foul up. Next week, a new exhaust that lasts for...you guessed it.....a week. (There is a sucker born every minute)

We HAD one guy tried to do this job with a diesel (older...mid 80's Ford diesel, bad alignment, nothing works on it right at all)...claims its "never broken down dude!!" Yet....is outta commission due to a throttle cable (and has usually no gas on top of it all)

That's strange. I always thought the silverados rode way better than the ford? Was the Chevy on blocks or something?

Stock. Chevy is smoother on the road but rides like shut when the rode is rough or if your off roading. We only bought Chevy sbecause they were cheaper.
