Yep. Some dealers will install a "tow package", but it is always aftermarket and usually the Curt setup. Has been this way since the beginning, and I even think the Towing Bible on here mentions that.

So instead of rigging something up, I'm going to just wait a while and see if toyota catches up to the demand...I know for a fact that I was the 4th person today at my dealership asking to have this addressed.

BTW, I also know that they are using the addition of a hitch in negotiating price with customers as a bonus...I think it is biting the sales people in the butt now when the are seeing that it is way easier said than done...I'll check back in later with a post if things change

Will the plug and harness from a 2017 fit?

Maybe not as easy as you think the bumper is integrated with the hitch . Get ready to take the bumper apart and assemble it to your hitch . They are not separate. Or pay someone to do it .

It also isn't just a small piece of harness. The truck itself is missing the wires in body harness on up.

But a trailer place can do what he needs without replacing the entire body harness. It's not the end of the world.

If the vehicle was in a accident then the body shop would be able to buy the part in order to fix the Truck. Don’t ask me how I know. LOL

Sorry it's not working out as you'd like.

But the aftermarket 'fix' is no big deal. Basically it's the same as whatever a dealer will come up with, for less $.

Mostly because you aren't going to get all the real goodies that come with an OE tow package with either solution.
