I just realized the other day that I have auto high beams (which I can't stand and have never used btw) but no automatic headlights....what's the point? I know it's probably a safety thing, but wouldn't it make more sense to have automatic headlights and not automatic high beams, or just have both if you have the automatic high beams?

I have the auto high beams and I have auto headlights on my 2020. I would expect that you would have auto lights if you have auto highs but I guess anything is possible.

With the headlight system in Auto, DRL is activated unless it is dark enough, then the headlights automagically light. So, you always have some form of front headlamp on all the time. Is that what you wanted?

Wait, I have automatic headlights on my 2020? I have definitely forgot to turn the headlights on and driven around dark.

The auto high beams are ok, but not perfect. I grew up in the country but have lived in the city for many years, so my high beam skills have declined. I have not yet concluded if the computer is better than me.

I tried mine for the first time the other night on a windy road. Definitely seemed like they turned off late a few times.

You are correct. That is retarded.

I went to an online owners manual to see how they worked.

When it takes that many pages to describe the function and give all the disclaimers about conditions they might not work under, when you should not use them and how to adjust them, it's too complex.

And it is also is prone to dimming the lights because of the reflection off a road sign.

I have auto high beam but no auto headlights. Jeez, my 2008 had that feature FFS.

I totally agree with you on this! I had a 2007 Chevy Cobalt before I bought my truck and
and that thing had auto headlights. Bought it new for 14 grand and my truck was over 35 grand used without this feature. :annoyed:

The lights on my $25k 2018 Camry SE turned on automatically when I activated my windshield wipers.

The lights on my $46k 2021 Tacoma with tech package do not.

Can confirm the Camry SE had auto lights at least as far back as 2014.
First night I took out the Tacoma I drove around on DRL's for a half hour.. lol
