Right ! Do you keep an earlier production truck and hope it ages well or do you grab a 23 and worry about supply chain issue sub standard parts/build quality …lol

Interesting. Having owned a 1st Gen Toyota Pickup (before they were called Tacoma), a Camry, Mitsubishi, Honda, and Acura, all made in Japan, my 3rd Gen Tacoma is not even close to the quality of assembly. It may work out to be as good mechanically, time will tell, but the made-in-Japan quality is not something that comes to mind with this gen Tacoma.

I enjoy this guy's vidoes and agree the Tacoma is as old school as it gets nowadays, especially with the MT.

The last years of anything are always better that the first, as they are refined.. my 02 had a steel gas tank skid plate that rusted away, so I’m good with the plastic on my 19.

No idea what’s wrong with your truck. Both of mine have been near perfect. Better than my Range Rover and 2 teslas

I've watched many of "The Car Care Nut" videos about our 3rd Gen Tacoma.

Recently watched him about understanding the 4H/4L/4X4 system.

I'll have to watch this in my spare time since it is Saturday Night and I'm jammin' to some tunes.

By the end a vehicle manufacture generation, the gremlins have been sent packing to the next generation.

Love my 2017. I guess those problems are luck of the draw. Guess some of us are lucky . Except for the shifting which KDMax fixed, my 2017 is solid . Some model year 23 still have oil leak issues . As it’s basically still hit or miss

I like this guy, and even though he loves all things Toyota, if something’s messed up, he’ll call it out.

    My takeaways:

It’s the highest possible compliment for him to suggest that the Taco’s 2GRFKS is now on par with the already legendary 4Runner 1GR.

Based on his insight, you’d have been better off buying a 2nd gen in 2015 and trading up around 2019+, and it’s very likely you’ll want to hold off on Gen4 until 2026-ish.

Get your old school Gen3’s while you still can…

I don’t get the key circle jerk. Mine has it but frankly I would have preferred push start. Keeps things super convenient

He also recently reviewed the new Tundra and he commented on the build quality not being up to snuff: He particularly commented on the materials and fit and finish of the interior and pointed out many gaps and mis-aligned panels and seams, nicer materials in the front than the back, etc. Same on the exterior as far as the gaps and especially the paint finish: A lot of orange-peel.

I think he was being fair about it and he commented that for the prices they command it should be a lot better. I would have to agree. It's not just the Tundra either: he had the same observations on the Sequoia he reviewed.

    Too Funny!

My wife's Newly Purchased (back in) 2017 Elantra came with Push-Button Remote Start w/FOB...turns out, it's a great engine disabler over a key ignition.

EDIT: Elantra came with rear drum brakes--Alloy wheels sold it for me.

The Elantra also came with CarPlay for Android/Apple. Additional feature: Eco & Sport Mode driving--which [in a way] is like the ECT button minus Eco.

The technology has been out for some time...and I'm glad it was available in my 2021 TRD Sport.

The physical key argument will always be there.

I enjoy the remote start on both our vehicles.

Nope. I do notice a little drop in cooling sitting in traffic, but I'm still comfortable. It was like 110 a couple days last year and used max a/c only when i first got in the truck.

    Build thread coming soon.
I ditched the mechanical fan and went full electric because of the heat in west TX, best decision for me, now I have cold air with out having to keep the truck at high idle in the summer while setting on location all day.

    Very informative video!

I expected nothing less from this guy.

Learned that the engine is self-cleaning with regards to carbon build-up.

If at idle you notice the engine starts to sound like a diesel, put a smile on your face because the engine is doing its job.

Also, the AC in hot climates can potentially be a problem. You may consider an auxiliary cooling fan.

The AUTO transmission will always be an issue. It it's not for you, get a manual.

Overall, good assessment...I liked the review.

I also liked that he talked about the front end looking larger as opposed to narrowing down.

I'm all about the "SKEWP" too. WooHoo!!!

EDIT: The TRD Lift Kit may be a better option than the lift that comes with the TRD Pro...imagine that?

The Fox TRD Suspension is the bomb!

From reading on here over the years, I’ve always been under the impression that the late model 2017’s are very solid. I can vouch for mine…flawless.

Same here..now imagine all the 3rd gen owners that do not know this forum exist, they just drive their truck and never have to think about all the bad shit written up here that we read about and think might happen to our truck.
