Landed this '86 22RE a few years ago from family friend for under a thousand bucks. Sold it a couple of months ago for quadruple what I paid. Rare truck in terms of options. It had the 22RE engine, Cruise control, power windows and antenna, A/C, rear window defroster, etc etc. It was a fun truck, but don't miss it much after getting my '02 Tacoma.

Spent the last 2 months restomodding my '81 I picked up in September. Hoping to be 'done' by the end of the week.

It was bone stock, even had the original spare tire, shocks, window sticker/manual/tool kit.

[IMG]DSC00050 by Jonathan Krajnak, on Flickr

It was beginning to rust out pretty bad, the windows were leaking, and the engine was burning a quart of oil every 500 miles.

Stripped the entire truck down to bare metal, fixed all the rust, and completely bed lined the underside of the bed and cab, engine bay, and inside the fenders and the cab floor. I found an '80 bed that was 95% rust-free and modified a '75 HiLux tailgate to fit. Went with the 'terracotta' color found on the '83s and painted the graphics on. Rebuilt the front axle and POR-15'd the frame. The 22R is also completely rebuilt and I added headers/magnaflow. I'll be modifying the rear seat out of a Lexus to use as a bench.

I like how this thread has turned into the Tacoma World Toyota Museum. Yes, I have a thing for regular cabs. Here's my "new" 1993 pickup with just over 78,000 miles on the clock, weirdly optioned with manual hubs, crank windows, tilt wheel, cruise control, automatic transmission and 22R-E 4 cylinder. It's the only automatic vehicle I've ever purchased in my 30 years of driving. Everything works and she's in dreamy condition, other than the 20+ years of dust I need to clean out of the interior:

Way cool. I grew up watching Ivan Stewart wheel those trucks. I remember playing the NES and Super NES games like there was no tomorrow.

Very worthy addition to this thread, haha I've watched that video like 5 times now. That was legit for back then

IIRC, the player started each race last, and had to race through the field cleanly to minimize damage to your truck. If you were decent, you'd catch Ivan (always leading) and race to pass him. If you finished on podium, you got $ to upgrade your truck parts and repair damage. It was pretty legit for Super NES. All the trucks carried a color variant of Ivan's Toyota scheme.

Thats actually fairly cool looking gameplay and for what they had computer wise back then it looks pretty damn fun. I get apps for my phone that have the old NES games, mario, cliffhanger, etc good stuff might have to see if this is out there. I would have totally played the crap out of this back in the day.

I'd ride my bicycle across town (3 miles, really) on Fridays with my allowance $ in my pocket to rent this game from the video store. I was big into racing games. There was a legit Super NES stock car game "Kyle Petty's No Fear Racing" where you could build your own bizarre tracks. There were some really great features that were lost as games were made easier for the masses over time. Original NES games are hard AF to play now.

I raced the shit out of Baja Edge of Control for the Xbox once I started getting into off-roading stuff. The Tacoma in that is so sweet
