    1st gen 4runners are what i grew up with, i thought it was the coolest thing ever, i wish it was still in the family. My mom still has her 98 5lug tacoma she bought new nowbit jas over 200k on it and she wont buy a new one so she is going to keep it till it dies and then ill probably fix it.

    Since this is a BS thread too, what do I need to do in order to service/maintain the steering box? I see no zerks or fill plugs. Just a breather vent that has oil leaking out of it.

    Steering box has an oil seal. Other than that maybe clean and test the breather.
