SVT will bring out the "boss". Fact is Ford is one of the few and only non government owned car companies that made money. They're obviously smart with their lineup. SVT in general is a great perfromance division. Look at the last generation "terminator" cobra's, the lightnings. I have yet to see svt bring out just something whimpy. Don't get me wrong, I love my taco, i love my supra, and my mr2 (rip) BUT like someone has said TRD has yet to bring out anything outside nice yellow struts and the option to buy a blower with a warranty....and for the person that thought i was wishywashy about the raptor thing, its because I do not like to buy 1st year models because they tend to be bug prone. I took that chance on the V and it's been great so far but look at the issues GTR's have, the issues Tundra's had...

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
Buy a 4x4 TRD Off Road Tacoma for $28k and you could add in a LOT of mods for $10k.

^I bought them for years. Ford cars in the past have been complete garbage and I've had many different models that proved that.

Let me repeat: YOU SAID IT IN THE 2ND GEN TACOMA FORUM. If you wanted to comment solely on Toyota, this is the WRONG FORUM. That's all I'm saying so don't be surprised by the comparison because, even though you obviously didn't mean to, by posting here you are making that comparison.

I had a 99 f150 and the thing was really reliable. I'n fact I had more trouble with my Tacoma then I did with the 10 yer old Ford in a one month period. I had the driver side window fall out and 2 sensors go. The ford did have troubles but I can only count them on one had. But it was getting old and I wanted a new truck for holiday wiht the family and so on.

I like the Tacoma much better. The ride is smoother, the room is great for my young boy, gas mileage is much better, hold weight in the back better, looks nicer, more cargo storeage, ect. The 4x4 is much better considering the Ford was a 2wd. But all in all it wasn't that bad. but I do like the Tacoma much better.

I dont feel I have the right to nitpick and degrade or delegitimize any truck as my 09' Tacoma has a tailgate made of tinfoil, Gauge cluster thats scratches into a nasty mess if I even think about wiping it off, seats that have no up or down adjustment, paint that falls off my hood and bumper after being hit by a decent sized bug,No leather option, no sunroof option, Rear drum brakes with pedal feel onpar with stepping on a rotten mango & 6 year old V-6 design with MPG on right par with a full size 300HP V-8 Truck and a tranny that isnt all that confident of what gear it should be in around town at low speeds!!!

That being said this is my second new Tacoma since 2006 as I'm convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that has the best resale value of almost any vehicle sold in our country, looks better than any truck ever built and rode pretty smooth and quiet til' I lifted it and put mud tires on it...Even then its pretty derned smoove.

But yea...I dont feel I can talk shit about another guys truck choice. I have issues of my own!!

I had a 2000 FX4 and my take on it was, that the electronics were crap. I had to replace the alternator 3 times in 9 years, my locks stop working properly sometimes my right window wouldn't work, my odometer stop working properly after 90k miles. I spent more money fixing it than i should have. Ill never go back to a Ford, ill stick with toyota :].

And I still say toyota should make a REAL offroad version truck in both the Tacoma and Tundra platforms. Imagine a stock toyota with some sick as fox suspension cycling over 12 inches, I would buy it for sure.

I agree on that. The only thing that works agains the raptor is how huge it is. Put that setup on a smaller rig like the taco and you could go anywhere

That is sick...I'm sorry but even a taco with a lt kit would not be able to pull of that 85mph run longer than 5 minutes before the drivetrain would shake itself off the frame. I know everyone says that with 10k you can make the taco better BUT you have to remember that this vehicle was engineered frame up to perfectly integrate with the suspension AND the environment it will be driven in. The taco wasn't mean to be driven balls to the wall 60mph over huge arse dunes. I love my taco but thats the truth imho

Is there really a reason you would want to reguarly travel at highway speeds over rough terrain?

    Build thread in sig...

    what a silly question.

i'm just kidding, i know what you mean. i think i speak for a lot of us when i say that a lot of us would love to be able to, but few of us do/can on a regular basis.

I think that Ford nailed it with the suspension on this one. it isn't gonna get any better. the problem is that they are selling it with the current motor setup, which still has problems, one of my good friends has the 5.4 in his f 150....it's a good truck, but the motor and computer give him lots of problems.
