True, I did say "had"...a good experiment if very short lived. I was shocked the first time I saw a cummins titan, I was like WHAAAA!?? Yota should really step up and offer a diesel tundra that competes with dodge if they want to show the market they are serious, if I really needed to tow heavy on the routine I would get a dodge. hell if they can compete with the dodge dually that would be awesome! I like toyota interiors and features more than dodge

When I was a tech back in early 2000's I heard that yota actually sold their original tundra exterior designs to u.s. manufacturers...not sure of the validity of that

Toyota has some big changes in store for its Body-on-frame vehicles.

unfortunately, I don’t think we are going to like them.

    Most likely...

    1) no more NA engines without hybrids.
    2) no more V8s on any Body-on-frame vehicles.
    3) no more solid rear axles...
    4) no more manual transmissions

I have to disagree. Toyota is the number 1 selling midsize truck for a reason. We all have our complaints but the competition is pretty weak. The Ranger is a huge disappointment, the gladiator is overpriced (People are paying as high as $60k), the Colorado has a ton of quality issues, and the Bronco will just eat Jeep sales...

No more solid rear axles on their trucks?

Not sure what you're smoking, but I'm pretty sure it isn't legal

Look at the leaked pictures of the Tundra. No leaf springs. I don’t know if that means no solid axel or fully independent rear suspension. Either way I don’t like it.

I believe Dodge Ram uses coils on a solid axle. The new Tundra may have a similar setup.

It supposed to ride better. But we’ll see. Either way I’m Prbly going to switch to a tundra in a 5 or so years once they dial the new engine in. I’m sick of getting 15mpg in a fucking midsize

I got about that on my 08 Taco, but I had 33" Cooper STT Pros on mine. My 4Runner does a little better at about 18~19mpgs stock despite being heavier and the same engine.

I'm not sure how but there are people on here who get 15 miles per gallon in their Tacoma, and my daily driving gets me 21 and on the highway it's 26 to 27 if I'm not being aggressive. And that's with full armor minus a front bumper.

Lol but still, that's a huge difference.

And I do have 32s so that adds like 5 lb of tire over stock lol

You are probably right about everything above. The reality is that this is an enthusiast forum -- one of the reasons why it is so darn helpful to folks like me who are trying to figure stuff out. WE can come here and learn from experts who had already done what we want to do -- and are willing to share.

But the other reality is that we are a niche market. We can complain all we want but the world is headed in an entirely different direction. Toyota wants to encourage the enthusiast market -- that is what the after market is for -- but their primary goal is to make cars and trucks that appeal to the widest possible audience and the lowest common denominator. Sure, they will do little things here and there to delight the hardcore truck market but the reality is they want to sell the broadest market -- and those people don't want a V8, solid rear access or manual transmissions.

That old joke ... if you read the car magazines the perfect car is a manual wagon. In reality, no one every buys them ...

Expect all of Toyota's moves to focus on consolidating the platform and appealing to the widest market possible. You will have to get your customization elsewhere ... and on your own dollar, unfortunately.
