I wish I could take it back and put the part on, but the dealer has the truck. Im hoping I can pull the Magnuson-Moss warranty act on them.

I keep the foam and the old plastic cap in my glovebox just in case I need to return it to stock before a dealership visit.

It's bull crap that they acknowledge the problem but won't fix it on the trucks outside of the ten years that have the same exact parts and had the same exact problem at the same exact intervals. They send out a notice a year after mine is out of the ten year DOFU. They have not come close to restoring thier integrity by refusing to fix a problem they knowingly caused.

And Ford, GM, FCA or anybody else would do more than Toyota in this case? With any other manufacturer you'd be SOL along with everybody else. Sad, but true.

I have a 2012 Tacoma Prerunner Double Cab Long bed I purchased used in 3 Sep 2019. I have not received this letter and they said nothing about it when I took it to the dealer for a recall aside from I needed a "V-6 Tune Up" for $150. I got my hands on an OBDII scanner and though the MIL (Malfunction indicator light AKA Check Engine light) is off It keeps returning 3 codes all related to my Secondary Air Injection pump.

P2441- Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve Stuck Closed Bank 1

P2443- Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve Stuck Closed Bank 2

P2445- Secondary Air Injection System Pump Stuck Off Bank 1

Also, my I/M readiness says EVAP (Evaporative System Monitor) and AIR (Secondary Air Monitor) tests are inconclusive. Should I try and speak to the dealer about this issue?

    Thanks
    Sam

Next time it throws the CEL, go straight to the dealership. They won’t do it just for shits and grins. It has to have the code showing at time of arrival.

Issue is, the CEL does not show for it but when i plug it in to check, it shows those codes. That usually means in the past they were cleared right, and it was not me that did the clearing.

Mine (2012) took a crap Saturday and got my truck back today. I have no complaints with the dealership that helped me out being I was 3 hours from home when it went out.
Gave me another Tacoma to finish my trip and drive home Sunday and back to the dealer today. $0.00 out of my pocket.

Whenever there's a recall on a vehicle, you can be reimbursed for previous (related) repairs.

For recalls, yes. However, not for TSBs.

    True.
That's Toyota's way of getting out of the recall listings.

I bought a 2013 TRD Off Road in 2016. Until recently there hasn't been any issue. but I started getting the code and my truck go in to Limp Mode. I havn't been able to fix it yet, so I've just been hard resetting the code, it comes back roughly every 24-48 hours. I saw some of you guys received letters but I have not. I called the Toyota and inquired about the issue, but they said they didn't have anything for my VIN. Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't think the 13's are covered, at least not yet.

I would use the below link to see if anything comes up. You'll need to enter your VIN. It will also give you the service history on any work done at a Toyota dealer.

I have a full pump, valves, plumbing and all the electronics off my ‘14 if you can’t get it sorted. I only race my truck Offroad now and shut it all off. :D

Just had mine replaced today. Toyota covered all the cost. Service tech said the replacement pump has been redisigned to correct the problem so I shouldn't have anymore issues with it.
