I'm looking at options for a TRD Pro I'd like to order in a few months (a little premature, I know) and I was just curious how the Toyota OEM accessory "Truck Bed D-Rings" was different than the "four fixed cargo bed tie-down points" listed as a standard feature on the specs for the 3rd Gen. Tacoma.
The "Deck Rail System with four adjustable tie-down cleats" is also listed under the standard features and I understand what that is. I mostly just want to know about the "tie-down points" and how they differ from optional "Truck Bed D-Rings".
    Thanks

    Earth, I think.

I believe the accessory are the d-rings while the tie-down points are the holes and bolts. My 2016 has the tie-down points which are worthless without the d-rings.

    Thanks for the reply.
I should probably just go look at a new Tacoma, but I think I understand what you're describing. The "holes and bolts" that are standard on the trucks are basically just bolts on the floor of all four corners with big steel "washers" with holes in them you can attach stuff to? Sounds like d-rings would be a little easier to attach stuff to.

I didn't order the d rings, but they came in my bed. One at each corner if I'm not mistaken (2 I know for sure at the back) the only thing I don't like about them is that they don't rotate. They sit about 3/4" off the bed, so sometimes wiggly a tie down in them is a bit difficult.
