I am going to need a new clutch put into my 98 V6 5 speed. I do have a lift with 32 x 11.50 tires. Is the stock clutch still a good option? I have about 160k on my pickup right now. I do off-road it occasionally and use in stop and go traffic a lot.

Aisin is not bad I bought one from Napa and it was made in China!!

I think if I needed another new clutch my next would be the Marlin Crawler 1200 pound kit

Check out LCE. I've got their pro clutch in my truck and I love it.

I like the marlin crawler idea. Their prices are really good as well. They use some stock Toyota parts with the 1200 kit.

Why OEM and not Aisin ??

Yes I know you can`t buy the same clutch aftermarket except through Toyota.

Just curious I really think it pretty much comes down to the driver

Not related but my 2 cents. Didn't want to pay $120 for a water pump for my 2001 corolla. Bought a Napa brand for $45. Pulley broke 6 months after having the water pump installed. That left me stranded 75 miles from home. So what did I do? Went and bought a oem water pump from Toyota. I'd buy oem.

Went with the Marlin Crawler 1200 Kit. At my local Toyota Dealer the tech who does the work has a few rock crawler toyotas. He looked at the Marlin kit and said it looks like a good kit. I will be spending about $600.00 to get it installed by Toyota. So for a little under 1K for the clutch kit installed. Not bad I think and I don't have to do it myself!

I put an Exedy in my w59 a couple of years ago without any issues since. Everything was high quality, on par with the Aisin clutch I put in my first gen 4Runner.

As long as you can afford the labor more power to you.

Are you having them change the rear main seal while things are apart??

Rockauto.com has good prices on clutch kits, including the Aisin which is OEM. I just installed a luk kit in mine with a new luk flywheel all for under $300 from them. Absolutely nothing wrong with part store clutches though, I've installed AutoZone clutches in 350hp vehicles with zero problems so dont see why you would need anything fancy to handle the 190 ponies the 3.4 puts out.

Yea. I'm having them replace the slave cylinder as well. I don't feel like doing the clutch in my driveway. Lol already replaced everything in the front end suspension wise. Time to let someone else do it! Lol. Plus it's getting pretty cold out where I live. Gonna snow any day now.
