Well, I just got back from the BBB Accredited Body Shop(Stuart's).

It turns out that they did just mask off around the flare and not paint under it. Stuart's also pointed out that they broke one of the clips on the bedside cap. They were pretty much in ahhh at the repairs and even more in ahhh at how it was handled by them. I got the estimate and will be contacting my insurance now.

Hope that your insurance company gives you good service and approves the repair!

    Good luck!
    Cheers.

I didn't read very much of this thread.

First picture: The scuff will buff out.
Second picture: That small blemish doesnt look like it came from running into a pole, but thats just my opinion.

The pictures at the beginning of this thread are AFTER the damage had been poorly repaired. Those pictures should be perfect after the truck was sent to the body shop. If you want to see the original damage go here:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...-dallas-wrecked-my-tacoma-15.html#post1507536

The issue is the OP took his truck in with no damage on the right side of the bed. They wrecked his truck and wanted it restored back to the state it was prior to bringing it in for service. No matter how easy it might be to buff something out (I don't think you can buff out if there is no paint left) they should have been more than happy to restore the truck to the state it had arrived in.

Dealers do not do quality body work, quality body shops do. for giving them a chance to fix it. The first hint on not giving a :brianr: about the damage they did to your truck, was the story told. Why not post a reminder of their customer treatment policy in your sig? A satisfied customer tells a dozen, a dissatisfied customer tells a thousand. I guess they aren't that great at math either...

The damage that is still on his bedside doesnt look like it was caused by whatever the tech at the dealership did.

If you look at the before pictures, the damage starts just after the wheel well starts to drop down.

If you look at the picture with the damage that the OP is bitching about, that blemish is well before where the wheel well starts to drop down.

That blemish is so minute that the OP could have never even seen it, and only because the dealer scuffed his bedside that he noticed it while going over their work.

It was really smooth/shiny so I am thinking they sanded through the paint down to the primer before even clear coating it, then sprayed the clear. I said buffed through the clear originally but as another TW member(with body experience) stated that mark is through the paint

You are correct about the location of the damage after the body work isn't where the tech did the damage but neither was the burn through the paint at the front of the bed. It could have been done while installing the fender flares etc... Who knows where it came from but there should have been no damage to the right side of the bed after they had completed the repair.

So the dealership is responsible for repairing, free of charge, damage that they didn't do?

Dude... Seriously? they painted the whole bedside. I told them I wanted the whole thing painted and I did NOT want it blended out. The burn through was definitely caused by them and it did not come from the factory like that. I have owned my fair share of nice cars and I notice any imperfection they might have. This one was VERY noticeable.

Come on Tim really, if u brought in ur vehicle and it came out with a pinstripe down the side that could be buffed out, u wouldn't be pissed... I get pissed when I get it back and the steering wheel is greasy

That grease is from the armorall they detail your interior with.

If there was a pinstripe down the side (well, personally it'd blend in well with all the ones i already have from wheelin) and they buffed it out, i wouldn't give a shit. they were in the wrong and they fixed it.

Your second picture. The dent that you are bitching about that is nowhere near any of the damage that the tech caused.

You obviously don't read very well. Not once did I say it was dented, The flaw is in the paint and prep work... It is not dented. Move along little doggy.
