Thanks guys. a quick search shows that MA doesn't offer temp plates but NJ and PA do. I didn't realize the first authority comes from the state you purchase the vehicle in.

Where are you buying it from? You could always have the seller overnight the title to you, register it in NY and then go out with plates.

I've got a group of vehicles in eastern mass and another group in Central jersey/Deleware to look at. In the least, it will require two trips.

Unfortunately with the current NYSDEC opinion on off-roading and people destroying stuff we shouldn't discuss were to wheel in the open.

There's some private land in Attica NY with occasional events. FlexRock 4x4. I went there once with stock tires, and it didn't go too well in the mud. :) But the property is nice and convenient for those of us out west. I'll be back this year when possible. Their next event is in a couple of weeks: Any of the ROC crew interested?

May I suggest you pre print bill of sales from each state you are shopping in & for the state you'll be registering in. At least two for each state - one copy for seller, one for buyer. It's just so much easier registering if you have all the forms filled in & signed to accompany the title when you hit the DMV. Potentially preventing that 3rd trip or a series of express mail envelopes. There's no humor at the DMV.

Brewster, NY here (formerly Syracuse- inspiration for screen name). More interested in offroading for camping's sake than rock crawling per se, but I did just pick up a 2021 OR Crew Cab, and I can feel the trails calling.

Yo Tom, use to live in Syracuse and am well versed in the salt potato!
If your interested in camping and exploring in the truck I have a group headed to Bald eagle state forest for Memorial Day weekend. Still have some room left at the sites.

That sounds really cool, but I'm already booked at Schroon Lake. Camping with the family (and everyone else who booked for Memorial Day weekend) for wife's birthday weekend. I will keep an eye out for future TW NE camp trips though! Thanks for the invite!

That's a hard maybe for me. :). I'll be in Fish Creek that week (25 miles away from Placid). That might be a good time to bail from the campsite and go for a ride ...

Thanks. I've been in the area since 2003. I've been a Taco owner for just over a week. Grew up in Baldwinsville.

Ha! Sorry for assuming you were new here. Lol. I've been here the same amount of time (2003) and was from Newark. 315 for life. LMAO

Newark. Had to look it up. Was thinking maybe Lyons. Lyons more famous because of Boeheim. Beautiful part of the state.

Haha, yeah.... everyone always asked if I was from dirty jersey. Right next to Lyons.
Can't say I miss the 100+ straight days of snow though
