I think named roads don't count as snowmobile trails, I'm not sure.

Here in schoharie some of the seasonal roads are used as sled trails, some are state corridor too. I know there has been some conflict with the schoharie jeep club and Mohawk 4wd club before on the roads , nothing major cause everyone has the same right to be there. Look up Ames pancake breakfast at fire hall. Once a month now till april and usually members of both clubs meet ,eat, bullshit, and do some snow wheeling. Depending on conditions it's not for the inexperienced.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
If anyone is interested, I am trying to put together a tuning day with @Grossomotto on Long Island. I have a clubhouse with parking and a fenced lot to do the work at. I posted this in the Long Island Taco thread as well.

For anyone interested, it's the Valley Runner tune, everyone loves it, truck specific to your tire size and gears, increased throttle response, helps gear hunting/staying in gear on highway and better mpg. The tune is just $200 and free updates as they're released.

    How was your outing?
Cold night and deep deep snow. I’m not doing that again solo or without a winch. I got stuck 200yds off the highway at a trailhead road and had to shovel and maxtracks out. It was deep and very icy/crusty.

How deep is snow? Looks like 16"s or so. I'm sure you been told to air down! Don't matter what your tire pressure is they need to be the same diameter front to rear. Best way to explain it is on the flat out in your lowest gear in the snow and watch your tread imprints. You want a perfect imprint of front and rear tires at idle. So if your at desired pressure and your front tires leave a nice solid track and your rear tires are spitting the tread pattern you want to stop and lower rear tire presure so the pattern is undisturbed. Goal is to have your front and rear at same speed , it changes with gear /or load. If you don't do this your front and rear fight and won't allow the flotaition.

i was about 20 miles from the nearest gas station and my onboard quit recently so no ability to air down. it was straight ice though. probably 4-5 snow layers that melted, get driven on, packed down, and froze solid. i would literally spin all four wheels. I've done a lot of snow wheeling and anything above single digit tire pressures would have been useless. ideally chains for the iciness.

Yes, BHM is open pretty much year-round. They do take some time off but post it well ahead of time. I know they are closed now but are opening in a week or so. I'm not sure about mettowee

    Yes, last year was 4/17

What about cryptictoy’s aeformentioned property? I liked the sound of that, I think we should roll it all into a weekend. For those that did BHM and Metowee, which did you like more? I’ve only been to Metowee.

Same. BHM has probably twice the trails for trucks in our capability range. Mettowee had enough trails that we ran out of stuff to do after a couple hours, including inventing our own trail between trees.

A weekender would be really cool, and saves me driving out that way twice or more :D

Not knowing exactly where @Cryptictoy 's actually is (Not that we need to now), but looks like his place is roughly two hours from BHM. There is the Cherry Ridge Campground in route. I've never been, but it appears to be a free, primitive, camping spot. (I think I will have to check this out either way at some point this spring/summer/fall). Who knows what the weather in mid April will be - but sounds like a good weekend to me.

Also, this route would go through West Edmeston. I'm pretty sure that this is where Explore Overland is, and I believe that they have been working on a park themselves in the area. Don't know too much about it, but might be something worth checking out.

Just throwing some ideas out there.
