There’s no rhyme or reason as to when it will start peeling. My 2009 was fine and one morning when it was 10 years old I noticed some peeling on the roof just above the windshield. Within a couple weeks the peeling was way bad. It just happens suddenly. If you can garage your truck it makes a big difference. Environmental elements, pollution, sun, rain etc. is what destroys the clear coat. Waxing it helps but garaging it is the best.

nope......they taped the very back of the roof as it turned down and that was the "cut off" point.....can't tell it was painted at all.......plan on leaving the shell on even if I sell so I'm not worried about it.....plus it's a 2012 with 130,000 miles so it's doesn't have to be absolutely perfect.......but it does look awesome now!

I don’t know man. I have a white 06 in the Arizona sun. I wash it maybe two times a year on average. No buffing or waxing. Paint still looks good besides a few chips

wonder how much variance there is in the paint quality. I wonder if all are painted at same location

It’s my truck, I like it and that’s all that matters. When it comes to my vehicles I don’t do things to please others, it’s about what I like. Sorry, bull bar and PIAA lights stay.

Average cost? LOL... I guess you'd have to factor in my less than $100 paint jobs (including tape and supplies) and that would skew the results.

This truck was white. I've got a special uneasines for white vehicles because the last five I've bought have been white. Can't pass up a good running used vehicle for the right price just because of the color... so I get out the rattle can and do it in my driveway.

The first one I did was a Jeep Cherokee and when I sold it the guy told me one of the reasons he liked the vehicle was because of the color (Paprika at Home Depot), and he especially appreciated that he could buy touch up paint cheap, without getting it mixed.

OK as promised, I got my truck back from Maaco yesterday and all I can saw is wow! Obviously I have no idea how it will hold up but the repair and paint work are pretty darn amazing. I have a neighbor who has a summer house near mine and we both have Tacos and occasionally he'll wander over when he's in the area and we'll talk trucks. What I totally forgot is he's been a body shop guy for over 45 years. As luck would have it, he was in the area and came over right as I was pulling up after picking up the truck. He said "nice paint job, where'd you get it done?" I was sort of embarrassed to tell him Maaco but he told me that it looks really nice and they apparently put a lot of work into the repair and prep work. Again, I have no idea how long it will last but at least the initial prep and paint job was done well. So I have that going for me....which is nice.

I’ve always thought maaco was no better than earl scheib. It’s the paint job you get on a pos you want to sell for under $500.

My black 2013 roof is tragic. Just trying to find the time to get it done. Also pretty funny the window sill and top of flares have flaking, but only on one side.

On my flares the clear coat started failing first on the most sun exposed side and now it started on the other side.

Fading? Got any pics? Seem like there were a lot issues with that color.
