What are some of the things to check once I get me a Toyota pickup 89-95?

Like wheel bearings pcv valve, check for codes -- ect?

What's a list of easy to get to things that will make a huge difference if fixed?

Also, how hard is it to replace the body mounts?

Should bushings be replaced first? What kind of a difference will this make?

What will make the biggest difference for the older truck to have replaced?

And what is the procedure for protecting the frame with a coating?

Have you considered enrolling in an Automotive class at your local Community College?

I've taken a few courses one semester when I was homeless, trying to get vocational skills while at the same time trying to work towards a degree in chemistry (basic algebra) --ended up dropping the math in fear of screwing up the automotive electronics class and basic automotive maintenance class to save my GPA. Rather fail the one and pass the two. I was juggling too much and every class suffered.

Used to be a sticky on the 1st gen forum with a list of stuff to check before buying a truck. Worth a peek over there.

    Thanks,

Please answer my question about if the overhaul of an accord engine/tranny is more than then pickup.

It will be a large factor in my decision to get a truck

What year accord? Have you priced out jdm motors and transmissions? I bought a jdm motor for a Acura, total installed was 2250.00 motor had 60,000 on it with 1 yr warranty. Ran great. Kid wrecked it.

Isn't it expensive on fwd cars such as an accord to fix the engine because of the way the fwd is?

    Transaxle

Vs being able to pull the engine out vs the whole shebang? Correct me if I'm wrong

With the pick up trucks, you wanna look for CV axle boots, rear axle seal leaks, headgasket leaks, exhaust leaks, frame rust, body rust, windshield rust (water leaks suck).

The 3.0 sucks, it uses a shit ton of fuel and produces little power, with reliability issues on top of it. Make sure its a manual, the auto's are awful, but reliable.

If you do a body lift, and a torsion lift, you can fit big ass tires with more ease than its Tacoma siblings.
