There are one or two older threads regarding Toyota's on warranty, VSA- Platinum here on the forum. I thought I would ask for any more recent updates.

I was offered the 7yr/125k mile warranty for $1740.
    1) Can be purchased before standard 3yr/36K warranty expires
    2) This link states that: "Platinum VSA covers the cost of mechanical breakdown of the parts listed below after your vehicle’s warranty expires. Your vehicle’s Limited Powertrain Warranty covers only those parts listed in BLACK text." See link for details- https://www.sc.toyotafinancial.com/web/tfs/pub/contents/vsa/TFS_VSA_Platinum_VSA_eBrochure.pdf
    3) I think most people's concerns is purchasing this and the dealer not honoring it by finding a loophole. Anyone here experience this first hand?
    4) Anyone purchase this warranty and benefited from it? Please share your experience.
    5) Any other input or advice not asked please feel free to mention.

I forget which extended warranty I purchased, but the U-joints went out on my 2011 at about 68K. Covered parts, labor, and a 3 day loner car.

I went for it on my new Taco because I’m retiring later this year and didn’t want the possibility of a big financial hit if something happened after the warranty expired. I paid $1,400 and some around here have said that they paid as low as $800.

What coverage did you get for $1,400?

I bought it too, but went with the 8 year 125K, zero deductible.

Your question was yes or no. It's an investment and it may never pay off. For me, I HATE working on cars and I always say I'll put money aside for repairs but I never do.

    So my vote is yes.

I guess its important to read and understand the contract. I'm sure it makes for interesting reading. But if you need and your denied thats when most people read it thoroughly. Been there done that.

It was somewhere in the $1500-$1600 range which I thought was a decent deal.

It seems worth buying because of expensive systems like Blind Spot Monitors, Back Up Sensors, Heated Seats, Sunroof, etc. pretty much just 1 failure in those systems will cover the cost of the warranty.

I’d have to dig out the paperwork but I think it was 8years, 100,000 miles.

The corvette community I also belong to has a dealer that discounts these warranties and it is the top company. Does Toyota not have someone out there that does the same?

I have had some friends buy into warranties like these (they don’t have Toyota) and if you plan to mod your vehicle in anyway, it’s hard to get dealerships to honor them.

Most of the time, they will say it is xx mod that contributed to the problem therefor voiding the warranty. Even something as small as LED headlights, they will say it all ties back into it messing with electrical system.

I purchased a 7 year 100,000 miles Toyota Factory Extra Care platinum Zero Deductible Warranty for $1425. I have taken advantage of three extended warranties with my last three vehicles and all three warranties have paid for themselves (things add up quickly). I personally want the protection and peace of mind. While anecdotal, for every one horror story about a dealer not honoring an extended warranty, you have dozens who take advantage of them without any problems. If you have a reputable dealer, they will take care of you. The key is price. My local dealer quoted me $2,030. I purchased the same warranty elsewhere for $1,425. Profit margins on warranties are insane - be careful. You can buy the warranty from any dealer. Shop around.

I am in the same situation. I have a week to cancel. I bought the 7yr,100k Platinum. I am planning on doing a number of mods to my truck and I am not sure if it is worth it.

I agree. With the advent of more advanced technology in our vehicles. I would strongly recommend purchasing an extended warranty. The more technology that is added (Toyota isn’t done yet), the more expensive it will get to repair.

I bought a 7 Year 75k 3rd party, Talked to my finance guy after I posted a thread about extended warranties. He did mention that i had a powertrain warranty and all that standard stuff. I think it might be different in New England since we get all this snow and salt on the road they use a 3rd party to delegate the repairs its basically the same thing as toyota platinum plan paid 1700 for it I have 0 deductible at the dealership I bought the Truck from and $100 at everywhere else. I wouldve been happy to be offered the Toyota one but since this "CostGuard" does the same thing I guess i'll live with it. However if they ever do end up screwing me im sure to drop them and demand the Toyota warranty for my troubles.

Heres my Breakdown sheet not to sure if this is the plan I got really have to revisit this stuff...
