Added the complete (as it were) Toyota PPF package when I bought the Pro last week. Dropped it off Tuesday to get the front bumper, half hood, front fender, etc. package installed. Price was in line with third party product so I figured why not.

Went to pick it up this morning and it was already peeling off the front bumper (badly) and the edges of the front fenders. Plus the hood protection was set back about an eighth of an inch, leaving the front edge uncovered.

Their installer told me this was normal (?!!?), plus he didn't like wrapping the edges because it didn't hold up, which was why it was cut back from the edges of all the panels.. And the sales guy told me that the factory installed PPF on the Supra in the showroom was already bubbling up.

I've got full PPF coverage on other cars and am pretty sure this isn't normal within 24 hours of installation, plus not covering the front edge, which tends to get hit by flying crap on the highway seems to not be a good idea.

I told them I wasn't satisfied with the coverage or the job. The installer said that it would cost him a lot of time and money but if I wasn't happy he would remove it. They were ready to deliver the truck back to me with the crappy install job. I just told them to tell the GM I wanted a refund.

So I'm supposed to get the truck back this afternoon without the PPF.

You are lucky you got it removed now. I have it on mine and it is clouding all over and looks like garbage. It is supposed to have a lifetime warranty, but Toyota wants me to pay $400 to replace it.

I would have hit it with a heat gun and those little bits would of folded right over and you wouldn't even know they there. I did the whole front of my truck myself and did that, plus a couple good days out in the sun would have cured it.

You made the right call with the dealer and the GM.

Apparently, the installer needs a bit more training on "How To"

When you pay a business to provide a service they should but forth their best skill in effort in furthering your interests by providing workers skilled in tasks assigned to them. Looks to me like he put that shit on with his feet.

But would you have left the front edge of the hood uncovered?

I also got mine done at a dealer here in Canada and the initial results were not great. Although they did admit that there should be no peeling areas at all, they were more than happy to replace/repair the PPF and at the end I was satisfied with the end result and the service.

That stuff I see looks like it could go over the edge and stick. Unless I am missing something

The dealer didn't offer that as an option. It was take it as is or have it removed and eventually get a refund.

You made the right choice if you were unhappy with it.

For some reason the pictures aren't all posting. This is the front edge of the hood. The installer set the PPF back by a consistent 1/8th inch or so along the entire edge.

SHIT, that dealer should be ashamed of themselves with the quality of work being so terrible. I had a few scratches on my passenger door( parked beside a bush/tree when windy) that they even offered to buff out and polish, which removed the scratches.

    I guess it all depends,

Yeah being set back by 1/8" kind of sucks since the rocks will hit this area and still chip it. Coming from experience i have had to use plenty of spot paint since the idiot that did my crv did the exact same thing.

Get it done elsewhere that specializes with ppf with the proper tools and people to do the job.

I have a pretty good idea of what a quality PPF job is supposed to look like :D

This is what I hate about certain dealers, after you take delivery they just don't give a shit going forward.
This one really gets under my skin.

I agree as these specialist do it all day, everyday and know all the tricks and are VERY Skilled. And the quality of product used is very important as well.
Good product installed correctly, should result in not even knowing ppf has been installed without very close inspection.

Wow, I agree that is a crappy job. I had the exact same PPF treatment done to mine at the dealership when I bought mine In 2017. Wrap is still holding up well and wraps around most edges including the hood, fenders and lower bumper. Nice Vette!
