We just bought a new home in a 55+ community west of Phoenix, AZ to be completed next summer. While looking at the area on Google maps, I saw "Toyota Proving Grounds" several miles north and west of the development. Of course, I zoomed in to take a closer look; airstrip, heli-pad, paved oval track, and off-road track, too. I suppose it's too much to hope for that they might let me take a hot lap around the dirt track?

Keep an eye out for a disguised 4th gen Tacoma being tested there. Word on the street it has rear disk brakes, choice of a hybrid or turbo engine, and a couple of test drivers driving it in the dark wearing sunglasses saying “hit it.”

    Okay...here's the plan:
We move in next summer. Wait for the weather to cool down. Late Oct/early Nov I'll slip on my desert tan pajamas and slink out in the dead of night to set up observation of track for first light the next day. I'll perform this weekly until I get footage of a 4th Gen or, until I get bitten by a rattler. :tumbleweed:

The shopping cart icon on the Google map is intriguing. Perhaps they sell Toyota souvenirs there, or maybe it's an outlet for accessories? Or, maybe they sell guided tours of the facility?

Keep a sharp eye out for high speed reverse maneuvers like j turns n such. They MUST do them, considering the M/T ratio.

That’s where Toyota is hoarding all their chips.

Well, looks to be a pretty fancy Auto Market. In any event, it's open 24 hrs/day!
