I bought a 2018 SR5 Access Cab last fall. I now have 5,500 miles on it, got a recall, the front passenger window has quit, and the transmission shifts like crap. Clunks sometimes when I'm coming to a stop.

Welcome, and good luck solving your issues when you take it to the dealership and state your problems, at the dealership.

Hope it works out when you contact the dealership. Let us all know what the dealership says when you take it to the dealership to look at your problems...at the dealership.

Take it to the dealership and have the TSB done for the transmission.

Recalls happen, front window should be no problem repair. Then push for the transmission TSB or get a tune

I also bought an '18 SR5 AC last fall. Love it for the most part, but not without issues...

    1) Mine shifted like crap at first. Had them apply the TSB (I believe its TSB-0062-18) and it helped a lot. Its not perfect now, but much better.
    2) My windows still work (knock on wood)
    3) I think I might have some warped rotors possibly.
    4) I also have the recall (assuming you're speaking of the millimeter wave radar issue). That process has been a joke for me (well, for most everyone). Their "fix" of a foam "water shield" is a joke. Here's my story for those who want to be entertained...

I didnt know much about the issue earlier this spring until I was in for my 10K service and they brought it up. Up until that point I never got a letter in the mail. Did some research here, and searched my VIN on toyota's recall website and found my vehicle listed and what the issue was (which was an issue with leaky radars who can potentially get damaged due to water seeping in, which can also cause the system to apply the breaks inadvertently - if I understand it correctly). So after doing my research I understand the issue well, but I always like to play dumb at the dealership :)

Ok anyways, at my 10K service the rep told me my truck falls under the safety bulletin, but they didnt have a "part" - which now I'm assuming meant the foam pad. They said they'd call in a few days when they had the part and I could bring the truck back. Week went by with no phone call. I called back and could never track down the original guy helping me. Finally I reached out to the gal who helped me at my 5K service (who had been very nice and helpful), and then the joke really began. Below is her response (that I have not edited)...

Hey, Cody. I'm sorry your last advisor hasn't reached back out to you! It does look like your part is here for that, so you let me know when you want to come in and I'll get it taken care of for you!

There is an open recall for your truck, the K0B. It is related to the radar sensor. There's a foamy/sticky pad on the back of that sensor that helps absorb the signals being sent back to the truck, it works a lot like sonar. There is an inspection that has to be done on the pad itself before we can order parts. Unfortunately, Toyota had 2 different pad types & there's no way of telling which pad came on the vehicle without physically looking at it.

It doesn't look like they had any notes on finding any codes/faults - but the recall does just call for the pad in 99% of the vehicles that come in. It's only in rare cases that the sensor needs to be replaced & that is only if the truck is having problems with applying the brakes for no apparent reason (it thinks it's about to be in a collision when it's definitely not).

I hope that answered all your questions

So the foam pad helps absorb the radar signals? LOL! What?! Then she talks about having to inspect the pad that came on the truck. Umm, pretty sure the tacos never CAME WITH any pad, and the pad is their band-aid of a fix for water seepage issue (which the safety bulletin clearly describes). Needless to say, I was blown away by this email. I emailed her back two times asking her to clarify the fix and to make sure we were talking about the same safety bulletin -- and I never heard back from her!

I had not been having any issues with the system, so I said screw it -- I'll see what happens at my 15K service without saying anything. I'm debating talking to their serivce manager (or maybe someone with Toyota) about the email and their lack of knowledge about the bulletin (oh, and ignoring my emails when I called them out on their BS :) )

But funny enough, I was on a long road trip / camping trip over the 4th and after about 30 minutes in torrential downpour, the error light on my dash lit up indicating the collision detection was turned off. It never applied brakes, and the dash icon went away after it stopped raining after about 20 minutes. That was last Thursday and the dash icon hasnt re-appeared since.

I plan on taking photos of my current radar just before taking it in for the 15K service here in the upcoming weeks, and we'll see what happens when the truck is in the shop. Up front, I dont plan on mentioning anything and we'll see what they say/do.

End of story (and rant) :)
