Just picked up a 2022 TRD Offroad which has quite a number of issues off the delivery truck.

Is this normal or am I getting a shitty deal on my luck here?

    1. All four fender flares scratched as if somebody or something brushed against it in transit.
    2. Front bumper showing the same scratches...
    3. Interior molding - panels all scratched, No clue how or why someone would have been climbing through the back seat.
    4. Random interior panels scratched in the most obtuse places,
    5. Seat frame molding with some funky injection - molding irregularities?

    6. The biggest kicker for me, The Passenger seat has one section nearly worn down while the rest of the truck is flawless?

    - What should I do to remedy most of these?

The Dealer agreed to " We Owe " and Factory warranty provide me the Flares, Bumper and Seat Molding, as well as the center console trim piece,

should I push them about the seat cover as well?

should I just take this thing back and get out of it considering it was $52,000 otd and doesn't quite come close to meeting expectations?

Is there any concern with having them or a trusted body shop replacing this stuff on a brand new truck , more scratches / damage from that process or should I just have faith?

    No clue what to do.

Not really annoyed, it's just another year of " wtf " moments that never seem to end for me at this point.

Paint is nearly flawless, drivetrain, driveline flawless as well, Drives and handles great, 17.1 mpg so far in 141 miles, it was exactly what I was looking for but almost every interior / exterior trim piece of plastic component has scratches - damage - flaws - discoloration - injection problems etc,

    No,

That's not how I take care of my stuff,

These things would never be present over the course of ownership if it had came in solid condition.

It’s frustrating and it’s not okay even if you’re picky, if I spent that kind of money I would want to be the one doing the scratches. Some people may not notice or even care about the scratches but it matters to you so let them make it right

Just wipe it down with interior detailer

About that 52k…that 15k mark up for the fancy scratches?

    Bullshit.

That is unacceptable condition of a new truck.

Seems just like some crappy handling through the delivery process. Either Factories, deliveries, or most likely dealerships handling. Not OK. Somebody needs to own up!

    Enough for now
I completely agree, especially after spending a few hours at a dealership listening to their bullshit and giving them your hard earned money it is unacceptable. A brand new vehicle should be just that. I thought I saw a scratch on the hood when I bought mine and stopped all paperwork until it was addressed, thankfully it was residue from the clear liner tacomas are shipped in.

Those scratches are ridiculous man and you should be mad. Update us on if the dealer makes it right

    Dealer barely touched it,

I had them skip wash / detail / fuel fill up,

all they did was the PDI and let me drive it out of there,

Seems like that news article about Toyota passing " lower quality visual inspection " levels really is true, this thing got booted out of the factory like this and picked up some scuffs along the way!

I'm thinking let them make it right, ignore the seat since they'll wear anyways but damn.

Not a good feeling working on a 3 day old truck at all.

I paid cash for this guys,

$52,000 out of my pocket straight up.

MSRP Market adjustment, Factory warranty extension, all of it...

you have the right to be upset. So would I! I work at a dealership and sometimes the people doing the PDI arent very careful because they don't get paid long to do it and its not their brand new car.

IMO I would not take delivery until any discrepancies where taken care of. I know I will be doing a fine tooth comb inspection before I sign any paperwork and money is transferred. Especially after seeing post like this. I will also be checking the trans fluid level, oil level, diff , transfer case oil levels also. Seems bad QC getting these trucks out fast to dealers. Oof. Hopefully that's $52k Canadian. Tacoma's aren't worth near that much.

The problem right there is dealer barely touched it.

They should do a new car prep. After that you should not take delivery until you have gone over the truck. Every time I get a new ride I wait until it comes up from the back after detail to do my walking around. If you drove off with all those issues you are wasting your time.

If you like it keep and let the dealer repair those things. If those things are enough for you to return the truck, return it.

I have seen some seats that look like that one. On both the Tacoma, and V8 Tundras from the photos dealers have put on their websites.

Unrelated to Toyota, I ever Ranger I have seen new in person. Had scratches around the power window switches on the interior doors. I don't know if people had been wearing gloves and operating the windows, or if the bezels are produced like that. It wasn't a big deal imo, but those are new trucks. When paying MSRP or above everything should look new.

Wtf? My 2018 was flawless when I picked it up. I would not be happy with those scratches at all.

My son just took delivery of a new 2022 SR. It had zero of these “handling” marks. I seriously doubt your truck left the Toyota plant in Mexico in this condition. Almost certainly the carelessness of the individuals loading, transporting, and unloading your new truck. I feel your pain, but suspect your dealer will successfully resolve the majority of these blemishes.

Do you know what dealer prep does to paintwork and clearcoat?

I saved myself $1,000 in paint correction alone before ceramic coating, these are lower quality parts and lower quality inspection levels at the factory besides the Fender flares which we have no clue on,
