they should do it if your lens' are burnt. i had called corporate before hand to make sure my truck was eligible and to make sure that both lights would be replaced. somewhere in this thread there is the pdf of the tsb so i printed it and brought it with me.

when i got there they said they havent heard of it but when i showed the tsb to them they agreed that my lights were damaged and replaced them.

Took my truck to the dealer yesterday and began to explain what I was there for... the service guy I was talking to had no clue what I was talking about.
Fortunately, I had printed up the TSB that was posted in another thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/drls-melting-need-new-cover.336016/#post-8896668

Once I showed him the printed PDF, there was no issue at all. In fact he ended up stapling my copy to the rest of his paperwork for reference. He also thanked my for "doing my homework" on this because he admittedly had no clue of this TSB.
The dealership now has new headlight assemblies on order and will replace free of charge when they arrive.
Thank you @Sctacoma4x4 for kicking off this tread!

I'm not sure how some dealers have no clue about this. Service guy put in my VIN into their system and it popped up as eligible.

Mine came in yesterday, initially told me 6 weeks to arrive. Too bad I'm in and out of town for the next month. Guess I'll be taking it in during my 3 day turnaround lol

I just had mine replaced yesterday. Unfortunately, they replaced it with the old part number. I went back today and they are ordering the new part number. So make sure they refer to the TSB when doing this warranty, if they dont and just use your VIN, the old part number will show.

The reason they are melting is because, when they built the light they placed the drl lense too close to the bulb causing a melting. The new headlights and newer models 12-15 have the lense further away from the bulb.

as long as you visit the dealership before Nov 30th, it can be finalized afterwards. Main thing for people to know is they need to have it on paper. Mine weren't supposed to arrive until mid-december and it would have been covered still.

Got Tacoma to dealer Dec. 16, after Nov. expiration by 16 days. After about a month, Toyota will pay for the headlights but we need to pay $295 installation. Toyota knows headlights are defective and a potential fire hazard. Will pay installation and continue to escalate for reimbursement of installation charge.

I took my truck in for a frame swap in November, wth melted inner lenses in my headlights. I told the service rep, he had never heard of it, and said he would look into in. After telling me that I was out of warranty, and then explain what the warranty enhancement said about no mileage limitations until November 30, they said they would be replaced, and are now telling me that Toyota claimed that I am out of the region that this enhancement is for. Has anyone heard of it being a regional thing? Time to call corporate?

    call corporate.

however, you have an '06 and it's about 3 months past the deadline for free replacement so I don't think they'll be much help.

Has anyone had any luck getting new assemblies on Toyota's dime, this late after the warranty enhancement period? I never got a letter from Toyota, so was not aware of the November 2015 deadline to file a claim. They did contact me twice regarding the rear leafspring issue, so Toyota has my contact information. Mine are doing the identical melting, and one is now cracking. Anyone's input, who has had a succesful late claim, would be appreciated.

I think it might as least be worth the fight. My drivers' side has now developed a crack (extending from melter area) that is exactly like many of the pictures on the 'net. I guess I don't grasp the concept that a "time frame" no longer makes it a problem. Preaching to the choir here! I am going to at least have a service advisor look at my melted lenses and see where it goes from there. If I had only read this thread earlier! I do appreciate all the information on here, though.

@doreydeluxe you should see if they'll replace yours for free if you don't want to do the retrofit

Both of my lights on my 2006 Taco have melted. I got one replaced (via insurance claim) after hitting a red tailed hawk at 70mph, just replaced the other yesterday for a cool $200! While I was replacing the second one, I noticed that the first one is now melting AGAIN! Has anyone changed out their stock bulbs for LED's? If so, does it effect the blink rate when you signal?

Appears I'm late to the party. Never got a letter or call regarding this issue. I have the same issue and noticed the latest date for replacement was last November.

Any luck on still getting these replaced? I do have the extended warranty which is pretty much a joke.

    I have. 2011 Tacoma TRD sport w/ 89k miles.
