What if you added the DRLs (relay) after you bought the truck, are they still replacing them?

Would a truck that came without DRL be in the applicable VIN list ?

Why did some trucks have the DTRL and some not? I have a 2006 and mine does not have the DTRL option on it. I have every other option.

I have an 2009 DCSB with 97K miles. I took my truck into my local dealership because both my headlights show the DTRL's melting.

This is how it panned out.

    I show them the TSB.

I receive a NO b/c im out of the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty.

Reference the line: Primary Coverage offers the warranty enhancement until November 30, 2015, with no mileage limitation.

They reference the line: Secondary Coverage is applicable for five (5) years or 70,000 miles from the date-of-first use and say NO because I'm over 5 year/ 70K miles of ownership.

I state that the secondary coverage is a warranty on the replacement headlights.

They say NO. It is a mileage limitation on receiving replacement headlights.

I call Toyota Corp. They tell me NO because I am over 5yr/70K.

Am I talking to a bunch of idiots, or am I reading this TSB wrong?

Also, any dealership in the IE SOCAL area doing this TSB without any issue?

I had mine done on my 09 with 85k at Sierra Toyota in Lancaster.

The line "Primary Coverage offers the warranty enhancement until November 30, 2015, with no mileage limitation" says it all.

At first the advisor didnt even no what the problem was until I showed him. Pictures where taken and shown to someone and he said OK quickly, 3 days later they where done.

Well I thought I was having my headlights replaced under this "Recall" or "Safety" issue. NOT! the dealer called me last night. Said he had good news and bad. :crapstorm: The headlights are in, but Toyota will not cover them under any Recall. :smack: Back to hating dealers...............

I really wish you guys were in central Florida. I would be replacing headlights left and right (literally LOL) all day. Not only would you guys be happy, but i would be getting all kinds of labor. Takes me about 30-45 minutes to swap a pair and they are paying 2.5 hours! Y'alls dealers suck.

This makes no sense at all. If this was the case, how could the TSB ever apply to any Tacoma between 2005 - 2008/2009??

Toyota wouldn't have included the vehicles out of the enhanced warranty range.

Also, the secondary coverage would only apply after presumably the PRIMARY coverage is over and done with!

I call BS. You probably got a misinformed person from corporate. I'd try another dealer.

It's not a recall but why wouldn't it be covered under this warranty enhancement if your truck is in the VIN range and has melted or cracked lenses ?

Thanks to this thread I went in to the dealer and took the TSB with me. At first the said that they can not find a TSB regarding my issue. They then asked if they could see my copy. About 5 minutes later they came out and said that they had some ordered and would let me know when they come in.They came in today and they are on the truck!

    ******NOTE*******
I actually had a set of black DEPO lights on my truck when I went in. I kept my old cracked and bubbled lights though and took them in with me. They had no problem taking out the DEPO lights and installing the OEM ones. They kept my old OEM lights and I now have a set of DEPO's that I may BHLM one day. Dealership was great. It was VanYork in High Point, NC.
