    Yeah read the whole thread and it is not computing....I am not picking up on the melt of the DTRL. Obvious to me is balancing chemical equations and digital signal processing...I am Tacoma garage mechanic noob ;)

    Can somebody please help and verify if I have this? If I don't will it?

    Nope, yours are fine. They aren't doing anythingaboit tthe outer clear lens. The issue is that yellow lens over the turn signal orange bulb. It melts and cracks.

    Thanks I appreciate the help. Going in today for motor blower check. Thing is chirping and rattling again. Also taking it in to see what it the metallic rattle I am hearing during acceleration.

    Just came back from the dealership for my DTRL lens inspection. Bubbling confirmed and new headlights ordered. According to dealership, lots of people having their headlights replaced and now there's a 2-3 week waiting time for them to get in. Don't know if that's BS, but at least they are on order.

    Mine was the first replacement on the new warranty program my dealership had done. Ordered parts on Tuesday, arrived Wednesday, and installed Thursday.

    I stopped by a local dealership today. They knew about the "recall" and ordered new replacement lights. The existing lens are burnt like the pictures shown in this thread. I was going to live with it until I read this thread.

    Just took my 09 in and dealership had no idea and had never heard of the problem or the extended warranty. Their only solution was to sell me the headlights at regular cost.

    Once I should them the print out of the extended warranty all of a sudden they knew about it.....so after all said and done they are replacing them for free this week.

    I was gonna do the same.....live with them looking like that or order aftermarket on Amazon or something. Thanks to those who posted this problem and the PDF of the extended warranty.

    took it over to hampton toyota in Lafayette La, and the guy told me that my lenses were definitely bubbled and cracked but since my truck had 81k miles that i wasn't covered. so i explained that the warranty was extended until Dec. 2015 with no mileage limitation and he said that the primary warranty wouldn't cover it because it was extended to 5 years 70k miles. i have an 09 and told him that there was no mileage limitation and that i was covered. he went to argue again and i said that i had the bulletin with me. so i gladly showed him and he went get his supervisor and everything was settled.

    guy ask me to borrow the bulletin and comes back and says "i went make a copy, i didnt have one of these"

    i was just thinking wow, that whole time arguing with me and you were making things up. fucking genius

    new lights on Thursday, wooooooo! i love this site

    It's the little things.
    Walked into the dealership before work this morning and they already knew about it so I left it there and they gave me a ride to work. Just picked up my truck with my new lights and washed for free-ninety-nine! Thanks y'all for sharing this!!

    Got mine done today, 2009 DCSB, no pictures...you guys no what they look like before and after. Do yourself a favor and print the TSB just in case.

    They look good, a little more confidence restored in Toyota.

    pretty sure the sport bezels on the replaced headlights are darker than the original set that came with the truck.

    Update on my case:

    Refresher: Passenger side turn signal/ DTRL melted and cracked about a year ago. Noticed it when my passenger side headlight filled with moisture (condensation), which I asked for help with (dealer and here on TW)... not thinking the crack and melted amber lens had anything to do with that. No help from dealer or here at the time (last winter).

    The 'enhanced warranty' letter came, dealer changed one lamp only, I saw it looked different and protested, manager took photos and called me the next day to confirm Toyota is only replacing the single bad lamp.

    TSB posted here on TW, states that BOTH lamps are to be replaced. I called the number on the letter I was sent originally and spoke to 'corporate' who kindly made a CASE NUMBER for me... and they will contact my dealer service with the instructions to replace the other lamp, too. Couldn't believe the run around I got from the service manager, either (since corporate pays for both to be changed).

    Spoke to my service writer today, told him, what I did and he said good, that I needed to do that in order to have them both replaced when just one is bad, ... huh???

    I have an appointment for the work, provided a new lamp comes in first.

    Well, before I saw a TSB here on TW or would have thought there was any issue, I took the letter we all got about the melted/ cracked lens. Sadly, the letter does not specify two new lights are to be installed. The service rep said he would try and get them both switched (since I am such a good customer of theirs, yadda yadda)

    Days after I came home with one new lamp clear lens and one old lamp amber lens, was when the TSB was posted here... and with that, I called corporate for the case number to be established.

    I guess my beef is why do I have to do all the leg work when I am the customer and it is Toyota who is instructing service departments to do both lamps. My wife and I have bought 4 Toyotas from this dealer and all have gone to this dealer for service.

    Why did the service manager act like she never had been instructed to replace both and took photos to pretend she would do what she could for me to get another lamp, only to call me the next day saying no? Who at corporate told her no, but told me yes (and wanted her name)???

    History... in 2005, I complained several times about the harsh ride my new 2005 DC Tacoma had (bottoming out on bumps with any cargo or back seat passengers). The service department said they could do nothing and they are just making the trucks ride softer now. There was a TSB... but I didn't know, nor knew about TW then... I spent over $800 on my new truck to add air bags and better shocks to the rear, to solve the issue. Good thing these Tacomas are mostly great trucks and the sales staff at my dealer is easy to work with. The service department just seems to avoid doing any warranty thing they aren't forced to, and that is wrong IMO.

    I am taking time to write this so others do not go through the stress and time to get things done as they should get done. I also hope this helps my dealer improve there service department, which I have been loyal to for 14 years!
