dropped mine off tuesday with the seaping for my 10k as well. Was told today 2-3+ weeks for parts best they can guess. And, no they have no other rentals except for the corolla i'm in. First and still only leaking one they said they've seen.

Is there any 'average' time folks are waiting?

Do some of you guys just need some type of drama or additional problems in your life or something? Life too easy for you so you do stupid stuff to make it harder?

Common sense and logic say "if you have a slight weep (not leak) then patiently wait on the letter, after receiving it wait a bit before scheduling a visit to the dealer. Give all the other pantsonfire people time to crowd the first few days. When the schedule dies back a bit then go In, wait an hour while they fix it and move on with life. Geez.

If you have a leaker leaving a puddle then by all means get it there asap. A weep is just that... It needs fixed but you have some time.

to all you gear heads what could be the cause of this. simple as a faulty gasket supply or what? i'd be curious to hear expert opinion.

I'm not a gear head. I'm a mechanical engineer who designs high pressure hydrostatic hydraulic circuits. There are three possible causes:
    1. Improper bolt torque.
    2. Faulty gasket (variable thickness, etc)
    3. Mating surfaces have improper ( too rough, scratched, etc) finish.

I thought there had been mention of faulty studs that were stretching and unable to maintain correct torque, and that the fix involved replacing the studs.

Was that just in this thread or was it in some official documentation?

My SA called that 5 of 6 parts are in and are waiting on a fastener, i think. So more likely, last part comes in next week and i hope to be driving away in my black mamba.

I'm starting to have second thoughts taking my truck in on Monday. If there really are 86 Tacomas ahead of me in queue (and who knows how many by Monday), I can't even imagine how long that is going to take.

I'm torn between just waiting until my two year maintenance in September, where hopefully the line will be gone, or just biting the bullet and just letting them take it for as long as it takes. I'm still likely going to take it in Monday, but I'm really not looking forward to the prospect of who knows what loaner for who knows how long. lol

Mine has a pretty large seep stain. It's not dripping or anything (that I've noticed), but it's large enough that when my VIN is on the actual recall list, I'd like to get it over with.

    Basic overland stuff...
Doubtful #1 had an impact. I think it's a combo of #2 and #3. What happened to the good ole days with just slapping some RTV on it and be done with it. When I regeared that's what ECGS did and I'm guessing I won't have any leaks regardless of #1 or #3.

My dealer took a quick look at mine and said it was a stain, not a leak. Not sure how the stain would be there if there isn't a leak. IMG_6017.jpg IMG_6016.jpg

Dude! You have a leak, that dealer is wrong.
A stain is dry yours is wet from what I can see here.

Find another stealer or call/open a case with Toyota corp and if you speak with someone, ask for their email or where to send that pic!

    Good luck man
    Cheers!

I like how Toyota puts "remedy" on the envelope. Maybe Toyota has been reading this thread.

As soon as I received the notice I called the Dearler and asked "since I have the official recall notice I assume my truck will be fixed pronto?" I got a big "ha" from the Dealer...no such luck...
