My dealer called that "signs of a leak" and took my truck.

the bright side is you will not be shocked when the letter arrives...lol.

My differential was dry and "serviced" last Saturday.

I will be getting another one about the CPS....soon?

Hope everything works out well for your truck

In an out in 15 minutes. Watch him torque it. Turned maybe additional 1/4 turn. No leak.

Refer to post 2065 of this thread, second Toyota PDF document, page 4. It says:

"Any sign of leakage, even very minor, is still leakage. Minor seepage is still considered a leak."

Tough call. I'm no expert by any means, but have read every post in this thread since the beginning.

I think there is a good chance, since your truck is NOT (yet) on the recall list, you can bring it in now, and they will not confiscate your truck, since those are the instructions for the trucks on the recall list if there is a leak, but your truck is not on the recall list. So, they may just fix it under warranty like others not on the recall list have posted.

as of today still no recall notification. Don't want to take my truck in yet just to make sure after the stories I've heard. Will wait until the have a legit fix.

    2017 DCLB OR

    Build date: 3/17/17
    5k miles

    looks like no leaking

If you are not on the list why are you even worried about it?

There are quite a few folks with diff leaks that aren't on the recall list. Just saying.

A lot of people who have leaks and who aren't on the list.

Also what is the harm in taking in my truck just for a check up on this recall if its covered under warranty?

Sorry my mistake, I thought I read that earlier but it must've been someone else. So yeah if you bring it in they'll probably give you a loaner for who knows how long, they've had my truck since May 6.

Don't know tough call for a moderate leak.

    Beautiful truck by the way

All good, man. Yeah I just hope whatever loaner I get is something halfway decent, and I'm not in like a Yaris for a month+. haha

    And thanks!

I have a road trip down to Ensenada coming up so I wanted to confirm that mine was actually okay after replacement. Got under it this afternoon and, sure enough, the bottom of the diff is SOAKED in fresh oil from pinion to housing (meaning it's not just leftover spillage from the replacement). It's now 10x worse than it was before the warranty work. Fluid level is lower than factory fill but not dangerously so. It looks like the pinion seal replacement went horribly wrong and I will be heading back to my dealership on Monday in a less optimistic state of mind.

Btw I haven't felt the driveline clunk a lot of us have experienced since they replaced the pinion seal. Not really sure how/why.

Yep. Way worse. It was literally dripping this time where as last time I had a seep on both sides.

Oh yeah I know. Fortunately my service manager has been great to work with, I'm just disappointed I have to go back through this and worried, like many on here, that Toyota is legitimately clueless as to how to fix this.

I don't even know what to say. I'm glad my loaner's rear diff is dry?
