    CEO could care less.

The best way to get action is a national news story on again shitty Toyota quality, nothing like a dip in the stock prices to get them off their ass!

Good analysis, I would add only that it could be an issue with the axle housing weldment--or both.

As best as I can determine there are 1200 Toyota dealers in the US--228,000 / 1200 = 190 trucks/dealership--even if in total they could "inspect/fix" on average 5 a day that's still 38 (working) days to process all of the estimated 228k trucks. Then there are the OR models that have not (yet) been recalled...

(71 days) I've done everything you have, even talking Jim Lentz's office administrator, "Diaema Sheleay". Escalated as far as I could with her. Went as far as I could with Toyota USA as well. When I asked if she had a supervisor she said, "we don't have an escalation policy". When I asked about a hypothetical time frame of up to a year her answer was, "it could be tomorrow or a year", NICE! Way to give the customer some hope. My affinity for my Toyota Tacoma has pretty much been extinguished at this point. Stick a fork in me...I'm done!:boom:

Exactly. I hate to say this but... I want out. The hope train is long gone for me. Even after the repairs, I will always question reliability. I mean, imagine being on a fire road, trail, country drive through the mountains, out camping in the woods, in the snow and even worse when your factory warranty is over and done with and you rear diff seizes... and of course during that time where "Toyota takes you places", cell phone service probably will be null. Thats my biggest concern and where all hope is out the window.

The only plus side out of all of this is that I got to do an extended test drive (3 months) with a 2017 Off Road. I could definitely tell the difference in handling due to the difference in tires and wheel size. I also didn't miss my non-functional hood scoop as much as I thought I would...didn't realize just how much it glared the sun right into my eyes.

    hell yeah...

It doesn't make sense to do it any other way if the owner is willing.

For anyone looking into taking any legal actions, I just called and spoke with staff from a lawfirm that specializes in arbitration and the cost is an average of $400 per hour... I guess I'm just gonna try to ride out this circus that Toyota has created.

A gasket should be capable of overcoming minor alignment and surface imperfections such as waviness, grooves, surface scoring and other surface imperfections .

Individually it's expensive no doubt, but if a firm starts sniffing a 200,000 plus claim slam dunk. The ball gets rolling.

I have a 2017 Offroad that was new in June and is not on the recall list, however, I just took a look and it appears that the diff is leaking... Is this enough leakage to bring it in to get looked at? I really don't wanna lose my new truck for 60-90 days... Also, for the next month I am living 4 hours from the closest dealer.

I think it a leak/weep If it was on the recall list then they might say that's a leak but since it's not on the recall list I'm not sure. I wouldn't touch it at least for another couple of months until the dust settles down

I would keep the truck, but just keep an eye on it. No sense in having them confiscate your truck without a real solution. Wait until you get a recall notice if it ever comes, and then maybe take it in once they have a remedy.

Yeah maybe wait until you're closer to a dealer, in the meantime keep an eye on it. Hopefully in a month Toyota will have more parts supply and have more control of this situation.

Look on the bright side, at least you don't have your big sister constantly telling you, you should have bought another Silverado like she did! I did have a 79 back in the day, nice truck for it's time, nothing like my Taco though.

I just looked it up. My local Toyota did offer me more then I paid for my Taco! The difference would actually pay for my licence tags and insurance for the year and three months of ownership. Man oh man, seems more like a decade of ownership with all the aggravation!
