We definitely should, but will we get it??? The answer is no. Manufactures ordered parts and don't even do their own quality control on said order parts, they just install and hope for the best. As little companies become bigger companies in this process, the growing pains of expansion begin and all company owners (people ) are different and will handle it differently. Just my opinion.

Don't feel bad, I missed it as well. Perhaps it was just a tad too dry and subtle? :)

Why did you buy a Tacoma, or did you form this opinion after buying it?

Bought a 2 Gen had the rust recall. Truck was down 9 months waiting for a frame. Dealer did a shitty job. Toyota claimed the supplier was at fault for frame rust. So I gave them a second chance and bought a 3rd GEN same crap recalls poor QA.

People say first year vehicles have issues and are to be expected. That is why all these Quality assurance programs were created to prevent this. (ISO 9001,etc) but companies learned quickly quality costs money. So they pencil whip it.

The buying public has been conditioned to accept inferiority. And should not.

My 2016 Sport was on recall list and showed weeping. Took it in yesterday for 10k service and "recall inspection" and got the car back same day and told everything was fine. Guessing that this dealership (Victory Toyota, Seaside, CA) just tightens bolts to spec and tops off fluid. Not sure definition they use as a qualifying event for recall work :notsure:

If it's weeping, it's leaking. Should have replaced gasket, new nuts, new oil seals, bunch of parts.

quality programs like ISO9001 are just for show and to get manufacturers names in the book of certified manufacturers....most of the time, their customers require it before getting contracts......but manufacturing and production could care less about what goes with it such as good investigation of problems to discover the actual root cause.....if they do, then the cost of implementing the corrective action put schedule or bottom line dollars shipped at risk.....as a former vp of quality of a major laser company i know.....i left because after 10+ years they just gave lip service to my engineers, managers and inspection people....would hide instruments when calibration audits took place and next day surprise audit finds 25 out of date.....not to mention, corrective actions would take up to 6 months to get answered....they pay for ISO registration and its just not right......we don't know what happened with the issues are on diff problems are, but a Japanese company like toyota and it reputation for quality should be ashamed for these issues...

Mine was weeping around the bottom so I went in for the recall. They inspected it and determined it was leaking then told me they would order the parts and call me when they were in. About 3 months later I had not heard from them and came up on the 15,000 mile service. When I called to make the service appointment I also asked about the parts. They asked me to hold then came back and said the parts had come in the day before. Hmmm, ok. Dropped it off for the 15,000 mile service and the recall repair around noon. My truck was ready by about 6:00. Checked it before I left and there were new nuts and evidence of them bleeding the brakes and no RTV! The parts and repair were also listed on the invoice. So it appears they performed the correct repair procedure. Whew! After reading about some of the horror stories in this thread I feel very fortunate!

I opted for a loaner and at least my loaner is a Tacoma. But I don't feel comfortable wheeling it. It's brand new and scratch free. My truck has a ton of scratches from trees and bushes, and it just happens if I take it off-road.

Going on day 63 of not having my truck, contacted my dealership for an update, got the same answer as before " we still don't know why Toyota hasn't mailed the parts they still haven't gave us an answer".

Just a disappointment how this whole recall is being handled.

The fact that Toyota released this Recall back in the middle of April and supposedly still has parts on back order tells the real story. There is no back order.

Toyota is not making parts for these recalls, they are ordering them on a case by case basis (they have admitted this) and production trucks have priority. What this means is Toyota does not, does not care how long you don't have your truck. Next year the wait will still be the same. They can spread out the costs of the rentals and probably have a great cut throat agreement with the rental car companies especially since they sell them or maybe give them cars for the rental.

Also I would be that guys have the worst service at dealers that are 1. Part of a large auto-plex, and or 2.The only dealer in a small town. Dealers that are single dealers and are in a more competitive market are most likley possibly better.

The good dealers constantly put pressure on Toyota for parts.

Also I would bet you can buy all these parts and have them in a week from the Toyota parts re-sellers online.

I wonder, go to the dealer, order the parts, then when they show up, bring the truck in and say here is the fucking parts fix it.

I am so confused by this whole situation. I want to know why some dealerships are holding trucks and others aren't. I also want to know why others are having theirs taken for less time than mine and they're getting theirs held for a shorter period of time and I've been out of mine for over 11 weeks now, with no end in sight. The dealership doesn't even call me to give updates. I have to physically show up to talk to anyone with knowledge of the situation.

Has anyone had any luck going to the dealership and demanding their truck back after having it kept for awhile? If it's not going to take my recall out of the line then I'm thinking of doing it.

Looks like the only way to get answers is through corporate (not that they have answers) but it seems to have speed up the process for others that complained.

Is contact info for corporate readily available? I haven't talked to anyone worth a damn so far at national numbers.

It's your truck. They have no legal ground upon which they can confiscate it, or force you to sign anything to get it back--it is your truck...
